My Sword Weeps - Book Two - 'My Sword' Series  by Agape4Gondor 3 Review(s)

This is indeed a subject that gets wrestled with. I so believe there can be honor, a glory, to death in battle. I'm not sure all who go to war feel it. And, of course it can be twisted, like with the suicide bombers. But, there is an honor in falling while trying to save another.

A very insightful chapter!

Author Reply: I very much like Eomund - it just developed. And for some reason, I am truly enjoying the young boys in the story. They give me hope as I write.

As for battle glory... I myself am prone to do things that ensure the adrenalin will flow! Get into trouble way too many times because of it. I'm not sure about battle glory - though Tolkien definitely has the Rohirrim living with that hope... if one can call it hope.

Honour is such a strange thing for grown-ups to try to figure out - never mind 13 year olds!

Thanks for reading!

Glad Aragorn didn't name himself openly, although his identity might have been guessed.

And Eomund gives most sage advice. I am proud of Theodred and Targon.

Author Reply: Oh Larner - thanks so much for your comments. Everyone most appreciated!

As for Aragorn - seems wise to keep his identity hidden. A little nuzgul went running through my mind about whether or not the wizard had ever met him or if Gandalf or Elrond had said anything about him at the White Council... but I don't think so.

And I LOVE the kids - though they are no longer kids - which is horrid. But war will do that to a nation.... *sobs quietly over lost innocence.

Good to see people starting to work through their grief here - and I don't trust that wizard as far as I can throw him.

I'd suspect that Saruman's treachery went back farther than anyone would've dreamed at this point - he might not've started actually supporting Sauron until he looked in the palantir, but he was clearly out for himself long before that. If you've read Unfinished Tales, there's a bit about certain things being found in Orthanc that could've only been retrieved by someone who found Isildur's remains. And there's only one reason why Saruman would've been looking for Isildur's remains.

Author Reply: I felt exactly the same SS about Curunir - he was foul from day one and I am still surprised the Valar let him come - as helper - to ME....

ooh - what chapter in UT.... I've read them - but quite some time ago.
