Well, I've had a marathon session and read three chapters in a row! So you are overdue for a review! All excellent, as always, but I really loved the last chapter in particular. The greeting and exhultation for Legolas by his elven subjects was wonderful - I loved that part where they pulled him off his horse mid-sentence and passed him around!!! That was a delightful picture. But I truly loved the way you ended the chapter - that really was very, very cleverly done! And it made the resolution seem particularly fitting. I was really impressed by that ending! I did say a couple of "ouches" at Legolas's handling of Andunie...while I could see what was being accomplished by forcing her to turn her "attentions" (what little there are of them!) in another direction, yet I admit to feeling a twinge of sadness at Legolas's claim to having no interest in having a relationship with a female elf. That seems rather sad - and disheartening. But, I suppose, true to canon! Still, from the whole way he manipulated his huntsmistress to "take another look" at Himbalath, I'm assuming from that that Legolas realized she had "strong feelings" for her Lord. Am I correct in that assumption? Anyway, thank you so much for the wonderful read - and for the obvious care and effort you put into cranking out such a well-written, well-thought out story. Your efforts show in the quality of the work. Can't wait for the next chapter! Author Reply: Wow; three at once? I'm impressed! I'm pleased you're liking it - been a long road, and a rocky one, but now that I'm on the downward slope I'm finding it hard to finish it. And yes, Legolas was a tad harsh on Andunie; but then again, he is his father's son, and when he wants something done he's more determined than tactful (as you will see by the end of the next chapter). And again, yes, Andunie had rather lofty ambitions - if you re-read Ch. 22, you will see that when she thinks Legolas can't hear her she refers to him as "a'maelamin" - my beloved - yet when he wakes she calls him "heruamin," my lord. It is a sad fact that this particular universe was a little more in tune with social standing than ours; we wouldn't see it amiss if a lowly huntsmistress had a "thing" for the lord of the demesne; but really, Himbalath is more her speed. Welcome back, you were missed. Were you successful in completing your novel-in-a-month? Thanks for averting our eyes at the end, I'm with Fastred, I really didn't want to watch either. And now Himbalath has new hope, any chance his lady will completely thaw out in the next couple of centuries? Author Reply: Thanks! Well, NaNo was a "success" in that I hit the 50K mark, but my novel is by no means finished - I estimate it will take at least another 100K to truly "finish." So, when TGK&HOM is finished, I'll tackle it once more. I didn't particularly want to show the readers what a beheading looked like - I'm no David Eddings, after all, to go wallowing in gore! And as to whether or not Andunie will "thaw out" - well, the jury's out on that one, sadly.

Another great chapter! I was so pleased when I saw the update. Fastred is becoming a true prince, it is wonderful to see the character development which you write so well. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you like how he's turning out - not much like the little self-indulgent, whiny 12-year-old of Osgiliath, is he?

That's a bit of a silly law! Not being able to dispose of treacherous kin can't be a good way of ensuring political stability. Although it's probably a great relief to the kin of ruthless kings. Very clever of Fastred to give that particular tor into Legolas's hold. One less problem for them all to face! And Andunie chose Himbaláth - which is probably a good thing. Author Reply: Strangely enough, there were loads of countries with laws like that, which is why mercenaries were so popular! And yes, Fastred's rather clever - he played well with the law, and with Legolas' own ruthlessness, to protect his country. I know it sounds like an odd thing for the author to say, but I'm rather pleased with how he turned out (by which you may infer he didn't turn out the way I expected when I started the fic). I'm glad you think Andunie's choosing Himbalath was a good thing - I got a few emails from friends, accusing me of "pawning her off"!!!!
