What a terrible dream for Sam, but it served a wonderful purpose. Rosie is certainly a wise hobbit.

The desperation of Frodo's plight then needs to be blunted. But to feel those emotions so rawly--even if in an evening's dream--would be quite painful.

These are so beautiful. WOw they all touch my heart very much. Forget exactly what he looked like -- and forget, Sam, forget every small detail of what happened in the Black Land. Not the big things, mind, but all the little details that make it raw and hurting. Rosie is so wise. I especially love this moment between Sam and Rosie thinking about Frodo and remembering him with words that you don't necessarily have to say. And those last lines make me want to snuggle them because I love the idea of Rosie comforting Sam and having them together in each other's arms. ♥ I also love your idea for the second one--i actually have a ficlet in the works that have to do with Sam thinking of Frodo and being melancholy. THese are so wonderful. Thank you for these jewels!

This is beautifully written, Gentle Hobbit. We need be careful what we wish for at times and it often best the time takes the hard edges off of our memories. Well Done!

"...forget, Sam, forget every small detail of what happened in the Black Land. Not the big things, mind, but all the little details that make it raw and hurting. For if he were still with us, wouldn't he still be hurting? Isn't it better that he could go, and that the small, sharp things can be forgotten?" Such wisdom! That's a very perceptive insight.

content with the softened, blurred and gentled memory of a dear friend. Indeed. Nicely done Gentle Hobbit. Not at all what I expected and not all that easy to read in its painfulness but a great ending.
