Reflections from the Paradise of Elves  by Bodkin 8 Review(s)

Hmm, I am wondering if Lady Uruiel and Lady Celebrian did not just hatch a plot to teach young Elladan a lesson. The ladies' own little collusion to curb male foolishness. Was Uruiel even her name or a more descriptive one the one the twins gave her? ;) Got all the moral across very nicely, me thinks. Wise Elerrina, though. I do so like her character!

Always amusing and insightful, Bodkin. Oh yes, you are...

Author Reply: They might have done, mightn't they! I can see Celebrian being definitely irritated by Elladan's flirtatiousness. Elerrina is a warm and loving elf - and she makes a great partner for Legolas. I'm also very fond of Miriwen - who is perfect for Elladan. (Sirithiel is the wife I feel I know least well.)

Bows. And blushes. Glad you liked it.

Yes, daughters are interesting indeed. Hope they survive their children's adolescences.

Author Reply: Daughters - especially Elrohir's - are dangerous indeed. I suspect they will be less trouble as they grow into their strength of mind! (And develop greater self-control.) I'm sure E2L will survive.

I'm so glad you've posted one of these again -- I've missed them even thoough you've been doing other wonderful things in the meantime. I always enjoy the interplay between these three.

Author Reply: I often have one or two of these ready for the times when other stories are proceeding slowly - but this was the last one waiting for posting. I hope inspiration strikes so that I can come up with a few more. I love these three - and the length limitation makes for lots of lovely elliptical conversations.

I love it how you always come up with minimal -yet always conveniently embarrassing- details about the twins multiple misadventures. Of course their long lives are of help! The tale of Elladan's youthful infatuation was hilarious. And yes, Elrohir, that is why men go to work -or endless hours to the office- because orcs and paperwork are easier to deal with than women... ;-)

Author Reply: It is so much easier to give just a passing reference to past misadventures - no detail required! Although more than once they have led to a story - and probably will again. Poor Elladan - he just lends himself to embarrassing youthful stories. And how true! Orcs are simple in comparison to negotiating the pitfalls of family life - but I'm not sure Elladan would agree about the paperwork.

Author Reply: I'm so glad you like it! I think I will take it to 90 chapters and then start Reflections II - Return of the Elves. (Name subject to improvement.) But I can't see it stopping - not as long as E2L keep talking!

Poor Elrohir! Just how did he end up in the wrong with his daughters? What did he do/say/think that upset them? (I have a daughter. I know how easy it is.)

Loved the tale of Elladan's early infatuation! :>)

Author Reply: I don't think he knows. And you're right - it's not difficult to send adolescent daughters off in a huff.

Poor Elladan - never allowed to forget his early follies! Definitely one of the down sides to life as an elf!

They tried to kill us and we did our best to take them out first.

The ambiguity of this is hilarious. I assume we're talking orcs, but for a brief moment, I thought it was daughters.

Legolas sounds very philosophical in this. I suppose it's not his daughter who's there at the moment.

Author Reply: Well... No. The guys are far too soft-hearted - pure putty in their daughters' hands.

Eleniel is, I'm afraid, just born sensible. Like Elrin. (Which probably means she will fall in love with a totally unsuitable guy and cause tremendous angst. While Nimloth and Aewlin will settle down to a serene and contented adult life.) And anybody would be calm and philosophical when confronted with Elrohir's daughters.

I love it! Very funny and very cute - and very true. hahahhaha Those poor guys!

Author Reply: Poor E2L! Adolescent daughters are just a bit too much for them. It's the hormones, you know. (Testosterone. It does things to the brain!*)

(* All insults are intended humorously. Males are wonderful. They must be. They keep telling me so.)
