Seeing the sons of Elrond return to their childhood with Estel is so wonderful. I enjoyed it as much as the cook. This was such a wonderful moment. Author Reply: Although the twins have been themselves, more or less, for a long time now, I think it might have been Estel who returned to them the feeling of child-like enjoyment. And everyone in Imladris would have loved the child for that, even if they hadn't fallen for his obvious charms!

Aawwww....*sigh* *sniffle* Author Reply: A delightful interlude for all concerned. Perhaps most of all for those who saw the twins fall to pieces after their mother's loss.

You post faster than I can keep up, Bodkin! There is no way any cook can look at small child who wants to make something for his mama and not cave, no matter that Elladan the Terrible is standing nearby. And cook is smart -she now has leverage over E the Terrible too, something she likely never had in the past, LOL. Author Reply: I got ten written very quickly - and then became so immersed in catering duties that I had no computer time at all. So they will continue to arrive until the New Year, at any rate! No - the hopeful look in Estel's eyes and Iavas was beaten - and the thought of making Elladan clean up was also probably very enticing. I suspect she was putty in the twins' hands when they were small - I wonder if it was Glorfindel who brought them to make spiced biscuits according to some ancient recipe of Gondolin ... and whether Iavas insisted that he should clean up after the two of them. Could be!

Awww, Bodkin, you're turning me into a Little Estel fan. Who could resist such innocence and cuteness? Not the cook, apparently. I loved Elladan's assessment of Estel's ability to charm, too. And the cook's admiration of Elladan's gentleness and patience with the boy, as well as her satisfaction with the return of gentleness to his hands. Very warm and nice for Christmas. Author Reply: Little Estel is much sweeter when he isn't centre-stage! It must have been quite an adjustment to those who had lived a child-free existence in Rivendell over centuries - but I imagine elves would have found children delightful. (One the whole.) And seeing E2 revert to playing - that must have been beyond price. Life might well have become more difficult once Estel had outgrown this very accepting stage of early childhood.

This brings back lovely memories of my own childhood.I like the way Estel wins hearts even so young. Author Reply: I think the elves were probably suckers for children - it had been a long time since a child as young as Estel grew up among them and they would have found it difficult to resist his innocence. And spending time cooking - a delight for any child.

What a delightfull story. Love your characters, the twins and little Estel are charmers. Looking forward to more. Author Reply: Thank you! Estel is almost too charming - but fortunately we're looking at the effect he has on others, so hopefully we won't overdose on sugar! More coming!

Sweet!! I love the perspective in this one, Iavas is very glad to see that Elladan is coming back to be the child he used to be. Estel just had the time of his life, like all childeren have when baking ;) Author Reply: Oh yes! And I don't think Iavas is the only one who is pleased to see Elladan and Elrohir seeking to replay some of the joys of childhood. Estel thoroughly enjoyed the experience - and will, I'm sure, do his best to coax Elladan to repeat it as often as possible.

*Sniff* This was lovely. Elladan was so encouraging and helpful with Estel, and so caring. I like Iavas's amused tolerance, and her memories of two other young cooks were heartbreaking. Her final words were perfect - so ambiguous! :>) Jay Author Reply: Elladan is relearning the joys of play. And simple things - like fun in the kitchen. He and Elrohir are fishing all these activities out of their memories of a happy childhood at the moment - but soon, I daresay, they will be making new memories. Iavas is happy to have one of her twins back in her domain - and will, I daresay, encourage him to bring Estel back for more!

Heheh. This has finally become a series! (It's growing up, you must admit) I really like that there seems to be an external pov that gives us a deeper insight. For the cook surely it was a cherished memory as well, and the chance of letting know, indirectly, that they are still loved. And meanwhile Estel had a great day and gained a new friend in a very important position! ;-) Author Reply: It's addictive! I suppose - eventually - little Estel will grow into his own part, but I'm having a surprising amount of fun contemplating how the arrival of a little one would have rebounded on all the inhabitants of Imladris. Seeing Elladan play - must have been a joy for those who knew him as a child. Worth any amount of mess in the kitchen! And I suspect Elladan's introduction of him to Iavas has won the child another loyal supporter.

Lovely again Bodkin. I love the contrast/comparison between the twins and Estel as children. Author Reply: Thank you, harrowcat. I reckon Estel's arrival must have brought back all kinds of memories - and touched the hearts of all those who called Imladris home.
