| Wow, there would be an auspicious start to the Days of the King- getting clocked by the cook. He's lucky she recognized him, actually - would have been pretty funny if they had to summon Faramir to vouch for him. I really do agree it would have been very difficult for Aragorn to get used to people waiting on him - and knowing his every move. Author Reply: Oh goodness... if she *hadn't* recognized him, I could only imagine how embarassed she would have been, then! That would be a very, very funny scenario. And, personally, I'm not quite sure if he ever got completely used to people serving him and knowing where he was, all the time. Anyways, Happy New Year, my friend :) | |

| I would have expected Aragorn to have to pass guards outside the King's chambers. Otherwise, this is a credible and amusing tale. Loved the bit with the indignant cook, scolding the thief only to find that it's the King himself. Poor lady had quite a shock there. I wonder if she'll start sending apples to the King's bedchamber every night; though I think Aragorn really needed the walk as well as the fruit. Author Reply: Well, d'oh! That was a silly overlook on my part; I shall try to not forget that again. Anyways, I am glad you liked it, despite that very silly mistake. Happy New Year! | |

| That's a lovely scene. I'm sure news of this "odd incident" will have spread throughout the staff by morning! And this is a nice insight into the king who will always still be a Ranger: He wanted to know his new home as well as he had known previous places he had resided in; it gave him some sort of comfort to know his surroundings well. Author Reply: LOL, I'm sure it would! I can see all of the servants gossiping about it for a few days, at the least. And I myself could not see Aragorn *not* knowing his surroundings well. I'm sure he probably explored all of Minas Tirith as well. | |

| Oh, this was such fun! I could just see him frozen there at her challenge, feeling like a naughty little boy caught sneaking food. Yet I entirely sympathize with him not wanting to bother another person just because *he* wants something. How annoying it would be to have people expecting to do everything for you instead of just doing it yourself. That would have had to be a huge adjustment for such an independent man, not to mention the staff. Author Reply: I agree completely. I know I could never just go and bother some stranger for my own needs in my own home. I could not even imagine how long Aragorn took to adjust to it all; as it is, in some things he may have never adjusted. Happy New Year! | |
