| Well, it took me long enough to get to this, didn't it? I'm so sad it's over, but happy too because now I get to read it all again without stopping! :) I'm so glad Frodo could talk to Marley and get some of that pain out! More important even than healing in body, though that's wonderful too, of course. The Dwarven ale was great, LOL! | Lord Elrond sure has everyone running from his tonics, they must tatse horrible. Of course I am still giggling over his eavesdropping on Frodo, but it was for a good cause. Great chapter from the squireing of the two boys, to the hobbits guarding the mushrooms. | |

| YEAH!!! A happy ending for all!!! Brion and Rich (as well as their parents) have a secure future in Gondor. Pippin was able to fulfill his duty to Frodo. Merry was able to fulfill his promise to Frodo (and make sure Pippin was "taken care of". “Are all hobbits so ruthless?” Faramir whispered to Gandalf. “We prefer to think of it as ‘practical’,” Merry interjected ROTFL!!! The man with the mushrooms was able to show his thanks this time. And most importantly, Frodo was able to have an unbiased conversation with a loving, motherly-type figure, who will listen to all his experiences ......... after defying Elrond's medical orders, of course. I LOVED their little argument about having to sleep vs. staying awake for more tonic. LOL! All in all, this is one of your best, Budgie! (!nd I got to help you! *Squeals in utter delight!*) ~Elemmírë~ p.s. I can hardly wait to see/read what you have in store for the hobbits next. I'm quite intrigued when you once mentioned to me about having inquired Surgical Steele for certain medical advice regarding transportation issues and hobbits. | |

| Cunning Merry! Dwarf ale has its uses. And they are all safe and sound, with the good rewarded and the bad having suffered the other thing! Even the man with the creamed mushrooms surfaces again and receives apologies and recognition. So ... what's next? | |

| What a lovely and happy ending! Pippin will never let such good food go to waste, and I'm glad the old man was able to get over his fear of the hobbits to bring them more mushrooms. Frodo has a long way yet to heal, but he proves himself to be more resilient than would be thought. It was very sneaky of Gandalf and Elrond to let Marly oversee him so he could finally tell someone of some of his fears and doubts. And I thought that dwarf-ale was for Pippin! lol Merry just couldn't let his cousin drink alone, I guess. :D Author Reply: As Merry would say, GamgeeFest, it was 'practical' of Gandalf and Elrond to arrange for Marly to be the listening ear Frodo needed. Wizards and Elf-lords can be ruthless, too. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. | |

Author Reply: It would be a lot quieter world without feet pounding on the stairs and shouting at full volume in your ear and arguing over whose turn it is to feed the dog. And we wouldn't have so much of our inspiration for young hobbits... :D | |

| And so we come to the end, though I could happily read another couple of chapters or more of Frodo pampering, Merry and Pippin interaction, Aragorn and Arwen, Faramir and Eowyn, Eomer, Elrond, Gandalf, Legolas and Gimli, Elladan and Elrohir, and the people of Minas Tirith. OH, and Marly and Peter and Rich and Brion. Which story contains the account of their original meeting with Fellowship? I'd love to read more about them. I have to say, Budgie, that this is the darkest, anstiest story I've ever completed. I've started a few others, but usually I just don't enjoy what my daughter calls "torture fics" where the characters go from one bad thing to the next. Usually they are so plotless they simply don't hold my attention. Needless to say, NONE of your stories are plotless, and your characterization is flawless as usual. It was tough to read through some of the darkest spots, and waiting for updates after a cliff-hanger was always a torture of its own, but I loved the story, and look forward to your next offering. Thanks!! Author Reply: AspenJules, the reference story is my "Some Nameless Place" also available upon this site. Peter and his family are original characters more enduring (and endearing) than most of mine. (Most of my OCs are bad guys who seem to die nastily if they hurt a hobbit!) This was indeed one of my darker stories, and I thank you for sticking with it. The next offerings will be light and perhaps a little silly and sweet for a time. The next will be a "Getting to Know You" story with Boromir. I hope you enjoy it! | |

| Bravo!! A grand ending - everyone well, happy and fed :-) And Pip is indeed a good lad, sharing like that ;-) I'm glad that Frodo got a chance to clear some of the hurt in his mind as well. MEWD!!! Author Reply: *laughs * A good summary for a happy hobbit ending! Pip is indeed a generous soul with his unexpected bounty. I had fun writing in Frodo's being 'faintly insulted' upon overhearing Aragorn's remark - if he is only 'faintly' insulted, there must have been more truth than not in that remark! | |
