| Beautiful! Cirdan is one of my favorite characters and I was thrilled by how well you showed his thoughts and went into his heart. The descriptions were rich with Cirdan's love of the sea. I like how he examines each of the wizards. Always I wondered how Cirdan reacted to passing on his ring and I am satisfied by the way you've done it: a quiet ebbing of warmth; yes, his strength is of a different sort. Very well done. | This is just beautiful - I love your sea-imagery. I like your descriptions - Radagast - the Brown, Saruman - the White, and Gandalf - the Grey, are all captured as I envision them. How humbly Cirdan passes Narya to its destiny, and Gandalf to his. How he loves the sea, and the ships he builds to sail Her! How the sea-longing overtakes me, as I read this! | I found the descriptive writing and imagery absolutely exquisite, Primsong. This was a thoughtful and moving look at Cirdan and his world. I have often wondered whether it cost him anything to give up Narya, and you describe this beautifully. Your description of Saruman is so apt too - cold and hollow conveys his character perfectly. Gandalf's humility and love shine through in everything he does. A perfect piece - one of my favourites, to be re-read again and again. | |

| Beautiful characterisation of Cirdan, as he gives up the Ring of Fire to the new-come wizard who will use it so long and so well. My only quibble is that it is movie-Gandalf who has blue eyes, not Gandalf as Tolkien wrote him. The latter has 'dark' eyes. Author Reply: Thank you for the review! - I thought about it, but finally chose the blue eyes of "movie gandalf" as they seemed better suited to the sea theme and palette of the piece. | |

| A wonderful tale, and much as I had first thought to tell it. Other than the fact that they came each separately, save the blue wizards who came together, this is almost exactly as I'd envisioned it. And your imagery, as always, is striking and evocative. "The gift of the forests to the sea..." A wonderful image there, Primsong. Author Reply: I always appreciate your reviews - many thanks for taking the time to read. I vaguely recalled their arriving apart, but it seemed it would drag out the tale beyond what I wanted - thank you for forgiving this bit of artistic tweaking. :-) | |

| Primsong, this has to be one of the most incredibly beautiful, lyrical and touching fics on this subject I have ever seen. I love Cirdan's deep wisdom displayed here, and his foresight, and his care. The description of Saruman "As a fortified tower of great beauty lifting itself above the lands was the heart of Curunír, but also as hollow and one day, as cold." was one of the most apt I have ever seen. And then the description of our beloved Gandalf/Mithrandir/Olorin. His care, his wisdom and humility and his incredibly large heart are all so easily perceived by Cirdan. *sigh* This is just wonderful. | |
