| ‘All’s well, lad. We’ll be in good time.’ Wow! So much said in only 100 words! A comforting dream turned into a nightmare, but the nightmare didn't end after Sam woke up. Still, he was there, in good time, to see and help to end it! Thank you! Author Reply: You know, your highlighting that part made me think twice. Yes, Bilbo might've been talking about a dreamed burial, but there also might have been, in the back of Sam's mind, some sort of reference to the ending of the Quest. I hadn't written that meaning into Bilbo's words, but I can certainly see it there. Thanks! | |

| Possibly Sam needed this moment in the Shire to fortify him for what was ahead. I wouldn't be surprised. Grounding him in the green of home, with his mentors pushing him on for the final effort. Author Reply: Good point, I hadn't thought of that. A few moments (seconds, even) back in the Shire, in a *garden*, a place of strength for Sam (and also the source of his greatest temptation), might be fortifying, indeed. Nicely put. | |

| Beautiful! You capture that whole feeling of a nightmare, the trapped feeling in which that which makes no sense is simply understood. Then he wakes to a reality just as bad! Poor Sam! Author Reply: It always bemuses me, the way dreams seem so real, and make perfect sense (at the time), and then after I wake up I realize that of course (for instance) two houses on opposite sides of the country cannot be next door to each other. | |

| Oh, indeed--from nightmare into nightmare! And what nightmares--Frodo's death as a youngling in old Mr. Bilbo's care to Frodo struggling with Gollum, then lying, bleeding and probably dying indeed, as both look to be doing anyway as Mount Doom tears itself apart in the aftermath of the destruction of the Ring! A wonderful work, Lindelea! Author Reply: Yes, indeed, nightmares! What a relief it must have been, though, to see Frodo freed at last, even if they anticipated death following shortly after. | |

| Wow! From nightmare into nightmare. Nothing could keep Sam away from his duty for long, could it. Powerful little punch of imagery. I see it has been a month since I reviewed anything new of yours.
