That was truly beautiful. I know Frodo's leaving had to hit them both hard, and this was one very lovely perspective.

Author Reply: Thank you so much! I haven't looked at this story in awhile, and I forgot how angsty it was. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this very much. I like the fact that Pippin says things straight out when talking to Merry. So very like Pippin. It also speaks much of their friendship that he is able to do this without making Merry so angry that they lose thier friendship over it all.

Thaaaaat's it... go and make me cry at work. LOL :) Sobbing hobbits do me in every time! Poor Merry, so stoic and so sensitive too. I'm glad he's got Pippin to help him through this.

Now to see what the next chapter brings.... :)

God bless,

Dayna

Author Reply: Hi, Dayna! I'm so glad my story affected you in this way...no greater compliment can a writer get than to be told he/she made someone cry! LOL. I'm glad you liked it ;)

And they need one another. Yes, a horrible thing to think on--I'm getting ready to really rejoin life and get married, and the one I've always felt was my older brother has chosen not to be there. How can I be happy with him so broken?

Yes, they'd be there for one another--always.

Author Reply: Hi, Larner. Wow, this story really parallels your life, doesn't it? I'm sorry to hear about your friend; I hope he finds happiness, and that you will find it too, regardless of what he's going through.

Thank you for the comments!

Thank God they did have each other - bad enough they lost half of their heart, it would been terrible to lose both halves.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you, Antane! Stories like these are hard to write, but somehow writing them helps me come to terms with issues in my own life.

Glad you liked it!

A sensitive portrait of Merry in distress, shrouding himself in thought and silence, with traces of bitterness leaking out around the edges. I have always worked on the assumption that loss was particularly difficult for Merry. I think you captured him very well!

Nicely paced, too. And I love the little exchange at the end: "What would I do without you?" "Starve." "Git."

:D

Author Reply: Thank you, Elanor! I was hoping I hadn't switched too abruptly from sorrow to jesting, but you know that hobbits are known for making light of serious situations, so that's what I went with.
