Wow...I almost lost it when Merry knelt beside his bed and wept for Estella and his lonliness. Very heart-wrenching! Yes; Pippin and Merry are brothers of the heart, never to be parted, not even in death. How I love these two! PF Author Reply: They are my two favorite hobbits :) Thank you for your comments .. I wrote this chapter first, actually. It kept poking at me until I wrote it down....and then the first two chapters were written afterwards. There may be more to come!

Very touching. This is a very interesting look at their friendship from all of the hardest moments in Merry's life. Do you plan to write one that looks at it from Pippin's most difficult moments too? (hint)

Both chapters are lovely. I'm very fond of seeing Pippin in the caretaker role, as well as Merry receiving comfort for a change. I'm so glad they both have each other. Author Reply: Thank you for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I wasn't thinking when I just posted the first chapter at Took Talk..I completely forgot it would just lead to both chapters anyway. Duhhhhh!!!! lol Thank you for the comments!

These are good :-) I love Pippin getting to be the strong one for Merry sometimes. Author Reply: Thank you, Pearl! I think they really show how Pippin has matured through time, to be the caregiver once in awhile.

AGAIN with the tears.. and right off the top of the page you hit me with SOBBING HOBBITS! What am I going to do with you, PipMer? :) Another lovely angstyhobbitlove story, written just right. Poor Merry tho'... he loved his 'stella, didn't he? ::sad sigh:: Author Reply: Thank you so much, Daynawayna! Again, a great compliment, to have made you cry...;) This part of the story wouldn't let me rest until I had written it down; I'm still not sure what THAT was about, but I must have had some angst hidden in me that needed to be let loose!

How very sad! It's hard to think of two such good and elderly fellows being torn by such painful grief, isn't it? The description of the disarray in Merry's room was particularly good: the visual counterpart of his state of mind. Pippin was right to be uneasy about that! I liked the reference to Crickhollow, too; a nice bit of shading there. Author Reply: Thanks, Elanor! Yes, it was quite sad, but I feel it was quite realistic. Losing a spouse has to be one of the worst pains there is, aside from losing a child.

Yes, they truly need one another now, and Pippin's doing exactly the right thing. Author Reply: Thank you! Yes, Pippin will always be there for his Merry.
