Via Dolorosa or The Way of Sorrows  by Antane 4 Review(s)
ArmarielReviewed Chapter: 46 on 2/11/2007
It's lovely of Sam to remember the laugh, isn't it?

Author Reply: Lovely for them both and amazing for it to be possible there but they were ever lights in dark places for each other.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Dear Sam, seeing Frodo in his need and doing what he could to relieve it, and then rejoicing to hear Frodo able to laugh again in spite of Mordor and Sauron and the Ring and Its machinations. I am so glad Frodo had that to remember after, that Sam was able to evoke laughter there from him, even after the Ring tried to take him.

Author Reply: Such is the power of love. I know I am going to warp this terribly probably, but the darkness saw the light and understood it not.

Poor Sam. So close to despair but saved by the remembrance of laughter. Preciouis memories indeed.

Author Reply: As the St. Therese, the Little Flower, said watching the mental sufferings of her father, there is no greater suffering on earth than to watch someone you love suffer and be helpless to stop it. Sam knew that pain.

Wow. The imagery of the roads pierces the heart and rings so true.

And Sam is so much more perceptive than many give him credit for. The memory of that laugh would be sweet then, I think. :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Sweet indeed. Much is written about Frodo's pain, but little about Sam's which had to be terrible at times watching someone so beloved suffer so.

Nmarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane :)
