I was only going to leave a review at the end, but I won't make it through in one go, and I'll forget the details! I really like the idea of the Gathering, and how you've coloured it in so well. Also, the way in which you describe Legolas as different, not just from his friends, but even from his siblings, and the other elves around him - that there is a palpable "otherness" there. His fea, destiny .....?

daw recommended that I join this site and review your story from here. I hadn't joined when I reviewed your first story of Legolas "Oh The Places We'll Go." That was a merry romp but this story is fated to be very different. I read this story all on one night when I had the flu. I know I liked it I just can't remember all of it. Actually I probably recall less than half. Too much cold medication. So I will be going through chapter by chapter, yes I am a glutton for Legolas pre-LOTR stories and reviewing. I feel it is only fair since you wrote it chapter by chapter. So here goes. Chapter the first I liked the idea of the elven Olympics. Of course with their life spans every century made sense to me. The idea that the art of war took a long time to learn and become proficient in was a very interesting idea. One that I approve of since again they live such a long time. AH The fractious four are together. I am glad to see them still so close. And Tathar giving Legolas a hard time. That is his job in life. So Legolas has led a sheltered over-protected life. He was well trained, and educated but not well traveled. He's a broody little elf striving for perfection. Good you got the main Imladris and 'Lorien elves as referees and the rest in the audience. Oh good our favorite Istari has shown up and Galadriel and Celeborn. Everyone's here so the party begins. I liked it when the competitors got introduced just like at the Olympics. So inventive. Siblings are nice to have sometimes. I bet they give him a hard time usually. So timid and inhibited; that is a huge change from when he was an elfling. OK so now we get the competition. Onwards and forwards.
