Such a clear image :) “Let him be,” Berensul replied firmly. “Legolas is uncomfortable any time that he becomes the center of attention. He is a prince of Mirkwood. He shall have to learn to face his people sometime. He will be fine.” Again, I like how you distinguish Legolas from the "norm". "Perhaps it was merely hunger, but Legolas felt a small twinge of nausea." *giggle* "A child is always a weakness to the parent, but seldom to such a degree as this. He has come of age, yet still his father guards him." I really like this side of Thranduil - even if it is/going to be a problem. "Although Legolas had always been particularly good at jumping straight into trees without making a sound, Langcyll would be pleased by how much practice the champion of Mirkwood was getting." Great example of practical application of theoretical knowledge - handy for orc-stalking, no doubt. I just love the marriageable maidens and their determined mamas - very Jane Austen/Regency/Marriage Mart. A delightful chapter. | |

| That was a great chapter. The most dangerous foe of all and it was just beginning. Mirkwood got all four of their competitors in the top placings. Mirkwood should be very proud of them all. And to Langcyll who trained them all. Legolas was very gracious in deflecting all the praise he received to share with all his companions. I thought it was sweet that he could be at ease around Mithrandir although Elrond awed him. Mithrandir really sees where the king is coming from. Desperate all encompasing love, deepest weakness. What will happen when Legolas has to leave his father's care and seek his rights and freedoms as an adult. Mithrandir feels it may impact all of middle earth. Cut that umbilical cord Dad. He got a middle earth elven Olympic Gold Medal. That is so cool. His friends and family are getting quite a kick out of this aren't they? Even Tathar got an offer. Really they are all way to young to think about pairing up. They need to have adventures first. Life after the Gathering next up on the agenda. Legolas will be so relieved. Thanks for the laughs in this chapter. | |
