A Shire Sketchbook  by Baggins Babe 14 Review(s)

(And here I am reviewing this for a THIRD time! Heh! Reread it once more and laughed again as much as the first time through it!)

Author Reply: I'm delighted to know the tale is still making you laugh.

My friend's daughter used to recite this rhyme when she was about 6 - I like to remind her of that now she's in her mid-twenties!

A marvelous thing to teach the poor Wizard! And now he'd teach the future King of Arnor and Gondor, and the expected future Steward of Gondor, too? Trust a Took to find ways to make things interesting!

Love they were overheard by Elf and Dwarf.

*snicker* I can just imagine the entire fellowship singing this, and so slowly but surely all of middle earth up to the Valar. *grin, snort*

Author Reply: I was wondering whether Gandalf later sang this in the Uttermost West! What a thought! Perhaps you've shoved another plotbunny in my direction........

LOL!! This is perfect Pippin, sweet in a mischevious way. And at last we find something Gandalf does not know! *giggles madly*

Author Reply: Clever Pippin indeed, finding something the Wizard does not know! Pip is very sweet though, even when he's being mischievous.

*snicker* Oh, that's just *snort*giggle*chuckle* dreadful! That Pippin! Hilarious!

Author Reply: Yes, that naughty disgraceful Pippin! I do wonder if the rest of the Fellowship sang this at all. And of course Gandalf, on his return to Valinor, may have taught it to others! It's a nice thought.

A slow and very mischievous grin spread across Pippin's face...

LOL!!! That's how it always begins!

That song was really funny, and the fact that Gandalf actually sings it shows that Pippin made a great impression on him. Although, I don't know in which direction ;-)

Author Reply: No, I'm not sure either! Gandalf had a good sense of humour and I'm sure he found Pippin very amusing and a refreshing change from all those exalted Elves.

Beware Pip's mischievous grin!

Wonderful! Wizards need such ditties to keep them sane. Nothing like a good laugh to ease one's mind ;-)

Author Reply: Gandalf did say everyone should have a hobbit or two in their care.........

Wonder if Galadriel found herself singing that at some point? :-))

Thankfully Gandalf was in a good humour and at least the tiny Took had not been turned into something unnatural.

LOL, this is so adorable, BB. Pippin is such a perfect balance of innocence, mischief, pure joy, and pure rascal. Love it! I wonder what the Fellowship *was* singing during all those days of travel? :D

Author Reply: I'm sure that by the time they reached the Misty Mountains the Fellowship had been thoroughly corrupted and were probably singing all 9 verses of 'Nineteen Nights.........'!!!!

Gotta love Pippin.

Very delicately done BB! The second half made the first bit perfect. my, admittedly over-active, imagination is making me both grin and blush!

Author Reply: Aw go on! Pippin, like most small children is at that age where rude words and the human (or hobbit) anatomy is terribly funny.
Glad it made you laugh.

*rotfl* Oh Pippin! No wonder Gandalf didn't know this song! I only wonder how he managed to keep a straight face during the lesson! You know, this *has* to come back and haunt Pippin after the Quest, but he probably wouldn't even mind *shakes head*

Author Reply: Even one of the Wise can still learn something - even if it is a rude little song! Those Tooks are incorrigible!
