I can't imagine it, this separation. Too much to comprehend is very correct...

Glad that Merry is feeling better. :-)

It is good to know that Frodo doesn't hold any anger against Boromir. I love Merry here! He's so noble and good and it's nice to see he's doing so much better.

Author Reply: Hobbits are wonderfully resilient, aren't they? :D

Very nice hobbity dialogue here between the hobbits-- i liked how you mentioned Frodo forgiving Boromir for what he did... and also liked the importance that Merry would have ties with Rohan forever. Nice last line to the chapter too. :)

Author Reply: Thank you! I enjoy writing dialogue more than anything else. *hugs*

Eowyn isn't that young, really - not in terms of the Rohirrim, who have shorter lifespans than hobbits. But I can see Pippin not knowing that - why should he, after all? And Eomer is probably not than keen to have his sister wed.

The horn is a good souvenir to take - and the treasure Merry really goes home with is the love of Eomer and the respect of the Rohirrim.

And nothing gets past the sadness of Arwen's division from her family. They must have been reunited beyond the end of the world. It would be only fair.

Such a wider world these hobbits discovered! All four represented their people well, in their own individual ways. Thank you very much for reading.

Sometimes it takes a story like yours to make us realise the full impact of the loss of Arwen for the Elves. How sweet and touching that the hobbits can empathise.

Dearie me - Eowyn is too young, Pippin is too young............ Frodo must be feeling positively ancient!

Merry and his leave-taking of those he has come to love in Rohan was lovely - sad and bitter-sweet.

I meant to review this ages ago but RL got in the way!

Author Reply: Thank you, BB. And RL is definitely in the way these days! I've hardly have any time to write, which is so hard to bear. Hopefully this month will be a little less frantic.

Oh, how perfect, Shirebound, especially Merry's personal leavetaking of the Mark. How very lovely!

Author Reply: Thank you so much. I'm learning a lot about Merry by writing this story.

“There are some lovely lashes... some lovely lasses here,” Pippin giggled.

“You’re too young,” Merry said firmly.

Oh, that Pippin!

Author Reply: *giggles* That line really tickles me, as well.

A very moving chapter ad nice to mention Boromir at the end of February !

Author Reply: Yes, it's a good time to remember Boromir, isn't it? :D

That was lovely! I need Pippin to drop by the house and tell me I'm too young for something. Anything at all. hehehe At my age it would be greatly appreciated. I do wonder how it must have been for the Elves, especially Elrond, parting with Arwen for the last time and knowing full well it would be the last time. Such love she must have had for Aragorn and for Frodo too that she would remain behind.

Author Reply: Thank you! I think Gandalf must have greatly enjoyed Pippin's company, if only to keep his mood lighter than it would have been otherwise. Such a dear hobbit! He's welcome to visit me, as well. *grins*

Arwen and Aragorn are truly a love story 'for the ages'.

This is an absolutely gorgeous chapter. I very much enjoyed Frodo and Sam's discussion about the elves saying goodbye to Arwen forever. I also liked also your version of how Merry gained the horn. You did a great job of creating just the right mood of melancholy before the departure from Edoras. Pippin's tipsy comments at the farewell feast and Merry's comment about his youth added just the right amount of levity.

Author Reply: Thank you, Althea. Leave it to hobbits to lighten the mood of even the most melancholy or dire events! I love how Tolkien wrote them as folk who feel deeply, but speak lightly.
