Wonderful story! I think for Legolas' family this experience was both sweet and bitter. Anyway, I really like your description of the child. He's so creative, determined and had already developed a love for his people.

Oh, my! That was quite a last second rescue! You had me seeing the spider in front of me, right along with your terrified little elfling. You had me rather involved with what the little lad was thinking and feeling. I hope you will write more about him and his brave big brother. Such as, perhaps, does the brother lead the defense of their home when Legolas joins the Fellowship? You have created possibilities for more stories. Author Reply: Thank goodness for clever big brothers, who can track down sneaky little brothrs.. It's really nice to hear that my imagery puts a reader right there. I like Talias, so I may just have to include him in some future stories, whenever I can find the time.

I love the protective older brother. Don't giant spiders creep you out? I can't even imagine how horrible that would be. Author Reply: I've always loved the idea of older brother(s) for Legolas, which is one reason I love Eilian and Ithilden. I got a shiver just writing a description of those spiders, so yes, they creep me out big time.

Actually, he did quite well, and both Thranduil and Talias have reason to be proud of him at the same time they have reason to give him a VERY long talking-to. Did anyone think to retrieve his knife from beneath the spider? Author Reply: I also think he did well, considering. I would probably have lost it when the spider first showed up. I have a feeling Legolas will definitely get a very stern lecture once the 's scare from the situation is over. I imagine the warriors that clean up the spider's carcass will retrieve Legolas's little sword.
