There aren't enough stories, in my opinion, that make use of the connection between Faramir Took and Faramir of Ithilien. This is a fine example of the benefits of the friendship between Steward and Thain; and I love stories with animals in them. Minor quibble - Faramir shouldn't have had to send to Dol Amroth for a pony, I would think that his wife would breed them as well as horses. But that's just me and my own vision of Fourth Age Ithilien. Loved Orome the Pony, of course! Fam will have a lot of fun with him, both seemingly high-spirited young fellows. And "Peridoc" is a great name for Merry's son. Author Reply: It always seemed to me that Faramir of Ithilien would take an especial interest in his small namesake, and that this would work itself out in letters and perhaps special gifts on major occasions. Having the pony come from Dol Amroth was a nod in part to my own "fanon"--one of Pippin's first gifts from Aragorn *after* returning to the Shire was a Dol Amroth pony named Sable--and it was sort of in the back of my mind that Orome might have some bloodline connection to that pony. I'm glad you like the name; it always seemed rather likely to me.

LOL, that's a brilliant play on words. Oh, how you weave a delightful tale and leave me wanting, lol. I wanted this to continue...or perhaps there's a story just waiting to be told inside that wonderful imagination of yours? :-) PF Author Reply: Maybe! *grin* This one was rather hard, actually!

It would seem as if the ornery pony must have some Rohirric blood! A fine gift from a Faramir to a Faramir. Author Reply: It's quite possible! I thought it would make a good coming-of-age gift!

I hope Faramir is a good rider! :-O The pony sounds lovely though :-) Author Reply: I hope he is too!

Ah! How perfect a name! And I can't imagine the pony's namefather objecting, myself. Heh! Author Reply: No, I can't imagine he would either. I thought it would be appropriate, what with an arrow-shaped blaze.

*laughs in surprise* You named the *pony* Orome! How very clever! Once again I'm blown away! And I love Orome's (the pony's) personality! LOL! God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Well, I sort of felt like I cheated, but I wracked my brain over this prompt before I stopped focussing on "Orome" and started focussing on "ornery"--as soon as I did that, I thought of a pony. And I will freely confess that his personality is influenced by Lindelea's story "StarFire".

*giggles* Oh, Orome will just love his namesake. :) Seems Faramir has his father's habit (a la GW) of naming pets after people. But a Vala? hehehe He's an adorable pony. Faramir should have fun trying to ride him. Author Reply: I hope so! This was a really *hard* prompt! And I think that Orome came from the South with his name already attached. Probably the *other* Faramir named him--for his thunderous personality, and the arrow-shaped blaze. Riding him will be a trip. I have to confess, Orome's personality is more than a little influenced by Lindelea's "StarFire". Riding him may be quite a challenge for Fam!
