I apologize for the delay, but still have not internet connection at home, and still quite short of time. I msut say that I enjoyed this thoroughly. YOu write action and adventure with that dry, sparse economy of words that every sentence is charged with visual humour and double and triple meanings. HAleth and INglor are at their best here, and I really loved the historical background of CAstamir's heir thrown in for canon accuracy. NOw you have me wondering about the blade that Haleth was wielding? Aranruth against...? Author Reply: You apologize for the delay? I look at the calendar and blush. It's Aranruth versus Caranthir's sword. I'm going on the premise that the two swords would 'remember' each other from the second Kinslaying. It's a bit far fetched, I'll admit. Sorry! There's probably a very brief story of how she found it and how she kept it hidden from Inglor for all those miles.

I suspect that, if Haleth and Inglor every get their relationship sorted out - in any direction - they might become a whole lot less fun for the spectator. Poor Inglor - Haleth really didn't want him there ... right up to the point when she did. I'm impressed by her blade skills - but then, she's had a long time to learn to be good. And much reason, too. And they have the sword. Question is, can they keep it? Since, apparently, they don't have a convenient boat, Haleth is hurt and they are encumbered by too much metal. I do love Haleth and Inglor! And the situations in which they find themselves. Author Reply: Thank-you, Bodkin. I think you're absolutely right in your assessment of Inglor and Haleth's relationship. Many successful tv shows were based on unresolved tension between two characters and they always went downhill as soon as the tension was resolved. It probably wouldn't be good for Middle-earth to set Haleth lose with Aranruth. Even if she didn't keep hold of it, someone would be bound to ask a lot of questions about how the sword of Numenor, which should have been either at the bottom of the ocean or under a mountain in Valinor, managed to turn up in Harad. Thanks again!

It's a good thing Inglor was able to climb aboard after Haleth trowing the rope twice, or she would be dead. She may think it is all Inglor's fault that things go amiss since he showed up, but I think she's very capable of getting in to trouble like this all by herself. Author Reply: Thank-you, Selene Aduial. You're right. Haleth has an unerring ability to land herself in trouble. Like so many other people, it must easier for her to blame Inglor than it is to blame herself. Thank-you for reviewing! Haleth
