This was very nice indeed! 'Is this what all fathers feel, this helpless, fierce love that takes away my breath and almost frightens me with its intensity?' Author Reply: It can indeed be frightening to love somebody so much...especially when it's a child whose well-being is in your hands. I'm glad this seemed to resonate for people.

And I have found my soulmate. I have learned and changed so much because of Frodo. Thank you, Primula and Drogo, Bilbo, Merry, Sam, Pippin, Gandalf - all of you have helped shape him and thank you, Professor for discovering his text and thank you most of all God for creating him. :) Author Reply: Frodo is definitely one of the best (and least appreciated, by the world at large I mean) heroes in literature.

*blinks back tears* Oh, Rowan! Is this what all fathers feel, this helpless, fierce love that takes away my breath and almost frightens me with its intensity? WOW! That's all I can say. Absolutely breathtaking. The way you wrote this is just beautiful! God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Feels good to know I made someone cry. :-) Thank you!

I like that this alludes to the selfish streak I've always seen in Bilbo as he's portrayed in LOTR, if not always in fanfiction. Author Reply: Thank you! A lot of people don't get that about Bilbo, that he *does* have a selfish streak along with his kindness and generosity. I wanted to do a slightly different take on his adoption of Frodo, that it started out as his solution to the S-B problem (though he believed he *could* come to love the boy), but turned into so much more for him.

Just what both Bilbo and Frodo needed! Author Reply: You got it! Not to mention that Bilbo's choice of heir also happened to be crucial to the fate of Middle-earth.

Oh, how wonderful and appropriate a prize for our Shirebound. Yes, that's our Bilbo, loving his lad so. Author Reply: I'm not sure why, but these familial emotion things are my favorite thing to write. :-)
