Hello Pearl, I've finally finished this story, and I must say it was a most satisfying ending. There were times when I couldn't believe so many Hobbits were twisted or ignorant that they wouldn't protest at this travesty of a trial, but when it became clear that the Hobbits present there were hand-picked by the secretary, it became understandable. There were scenes where I was strongly reminded of Gríma with Théoden, so the revelation that part of the "villain's" success was due to the power of Saruman's Voice came as a surprise, yes, but followed logically from what was subtly alluded to - well done! The solution re: the anagram had me chuckling - I'm almost hopeless at this sort of thing, so I was completely taken by surprise (especially as English is not my native language). I was glad the Master of Buckland regained his backbone and lived an honourable life henceforth. But there is one thread that I feel you left hanging loose: what about those spies - willing or unwilling? Author Reply: Hello Candia, and thank you :-) I'm glad you enjoyed the ending and found it satisfying. The anagram was a wonderful touch and I am very grateful to Dreamflower for suggesting it :-) Having Saruman tainting hobbits was generously supplied by my muse. It is a tendency of mine to leave threads hanging. I often have characters that exist (in my head) to serve a particular purpose and that purpose only. Once that is done I don't think any more about them. Sorry to say, I've know idea what became of them. Thank you so very much, Candia, for reading and reviewing my story.

Awwww!! BABIES!! ::squeals in delight:: Thank ERU hobbit lasses don't seem to suffer from Morning Sickness or that trial would have been more difficult than it already was! And contrary to any earlier posts I made regarding the current Master of Buckland.... I'm very glad he got redeemed. :) And I just LOVE how you answered my question about The Took: Adenbras Took’s senility was more than just his being manipulated by his secretary... I just had to giggle cuz it was almost verbatum what I'd asked you! :) I love how this lovely little bunny grew into a wonderful, full grown rabbit. Very beautiful, fluffy and cuddly. :) Thank you for feeding and growing him... it was a blast watching him grow! :D Author Reply: So glad you enjoyed it all, Daynawayna :-) Actually, a friend of mine and I once did a fair amount of thinking about hobbit pregnancy. We opted for a seven month gestation. My thought was along the lines of the couples conceiving their first night back together after the trial was over ;-) Adenbras was a loose end I hadn't thought of until you asked, thank you for asking :-) Again, thank you for reading and responding and for nudging the bunny my way!

Well - I'm glad old Pompous regained his marbles. And found himself with enough time to restore honour to the name of Brandybuck! And the Merciful is a much better way to be remembered. (Alliterative, too!) And young Mac married a Caskbury! You could say his ancestors were turning in their graves - except they don't bother to stay in them in the first place ... and, of course, that they are broad-minded and open-hearted enough not to judge on what is now distant ancestry! A nice fresh start - with green-eyed Tooks around to keep an eye on things. I love the subtle appearance of she-whose-name-I-cannot-spell to rescue Rollo and Mungo. While organising the celebrations seems a suitable penance - and acknowledgement of the truth. The delivery of the bells seems a fitting finish ... and it would be nice if the babies both had bright green eyes. Author Reply: Thank you Bodkin for a fun review :-) I think the ones rolling in their graves are all the deceased Caskburys and Grittisons - well at least the ones that were secretaries to the Masters and Thains. "she-whose-name-I-cannot-spell" This had me laughing out loud and clapping my hands. I don't always spell it the same myself, much to my chagrin. It has been both Cullassisul and Culassisul. Ah well, I think my husband says it was Thomas Jefferson who said, "It's a weak mind that can only think of one way to spell a word." Again, I should have acknowledged my hubby - the penance was his idea. He helped more on this story than on any other. It would be nice - but in my universe they have to be born with the Took name to be faerie blood Tooks and thus have the green eyes. But, like Other, I'm thinking they have hints of green mixed in with their Brandybuck blue ;-)

Ooo, Pearl, I like the ending: leaving a tantalizing possibility of further sequels! And Macidoc marrying Delphinia -- that does surprise me, but it seems right. Enjoyed the story -- and it's nice to know the ghosts are still watching over them! Author Reply: Thank you so much, Topaz :-) I'm so glad you liked the way things settled out.

“Please. Mum is beside herself with worry for you. I’ve never seen her so frightened. And if you don’t come back, how can I ever get to know the real hobbit who is my father? Please come home, Da.” *sniff, sniff* Omg...*that* was beautiful! The entire reunion between father and son was perfect. :-) LOL, I *loved* the idea of the babes being born on the same day! And the wee bells left inside the cradles was fantastic, too! Excellent as usual! PF Author Reply: Thank you, m'dear PippinFan! For you to use Omg is an incredible compliment, thank you so very much! I'm so glad you liked my finishing touches :-)

I am glad Macidoc was in time and that he knew where to look for his father. (a strange dream in which a petite being with red-golden hair had sung over them, freeing them from Saruman’s curse.) Yes! She is still watching over her Tooks. I am very glad of that. Looks like another generation of little ones with bells has begun thanks to the ghosts. hehehe It was all lovely, Pearl! Author Reply: Yes, I love those wee bells! Culassisul is doing what she does best :-) Thank you so very much, dear GW. :-)

It was also decreed that part of the celebrations in each town would include the telling of the true Tale of the Travellers. How wonderful! That will make the four Travellers and what they really did unforgettable. And I must say that during this story, especially during the last chapters, I have changed my opinion about Macimas II completely. I wanted him to be haunted by ghosts, I remember ;-) But with the knowledge of that curse he becomes a victim of Saruman and the secretaries like all the other Masters and Thains before him. With leaving the Shire he showed how sorry he was for what happened and that he was willing to bear the consequences. I'm right glad that his son found him and brought him back. "The Merciful" is an appropriate title for the "new", free Master of Buckland. And the chains with the bells! Lovely idea! Yes, Merry and Pippin will continue to look after them and their children. Sewing the bells to the faunts trousers is a great idea! Author Reply: Thank you so much, Andrea! When I started I had no idea what would happen with Macimas II. I was also glad he ended well. The bells on the trousers is the wonderful idea of Grey Wonderer, you should check out her many wonderful stories if you haven't already!

Aha. you've finished. I must admit I'm a great coward, and couldn't bring myself to read this story past the first few chapters, not knowing where it was going. Forgive me for waiting until the end, to read the ending *first* to see if I could manage the earlier part? It promises to be a fascinating and lovely read. Looking forward to having some reading time eventually. Author Reply: Bless your heart, Lin! I don't mind at all. Now that you know all ends well, I hope you enjoy it when you have the time to read :-) Thank you for the kind words :-)

I have been meaning to review this remarkable story for ages but real life kept getting in the way and my internet connection became more of a disconnection for a while! This has been wonderful and I am so pleased to see the loose ends tied up, with poor Macimas restored to himself, Other and Jebbin free and the Travellers properly remembered. How possible such a scenario might have been, with Saruman's horrible influence hanging on to poison the memory of the Travellers and their deeds. Loved every line of this, Pearl, and the last line was absolutely perfect. Author Reply: Hi and thank you, Baggins Babe! Real life does that to all of us, as does the internet and our computers. I'm so glad you've been enjoying the story and that you liked the very last line. This has been and odd story to write and I'm so pleased that my readers have got so much from it. Thank you :-)

What a delightful epilogue! You tied up nearly all the loose ends beautifully! I like that Macidoc went after his father. And it doesn't surprise me that removing the spells from Longo and Tollo drove them mad--they'd been under them for so long, they probably had very little of their own minds left. And the end was adorable! Author Reply: Thank you, Dreamflower :-) I'm so glad you liked the ending. The babes born the same day is a bit cheesy, but I couldn't resist! Exactly, I don't think Longo or Tollo had much left. At least the families are free now :-)
