Cute and sweet! I wonder how that brown hand belonged to. :) I love the idea of them being watched over. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Just a little anonymous proto-hobbit at the dawn of hobbit history! My own little theory which I made up for "my" hobbits is this: Eru gave the hobbit race to Yavanna to watch over. She noticed how small and defenseless they were, so she gave them a little enhancement--an extra bit of charm, charisma, you might say, so that any of the bigger races that were not already fallen under Morgoth's influence would feel the need to take care of them and protect them. And to a certain line of hobbits, she gave even *more* of that charm, so that they became the Fallohides--ancestors of our heroes! And she asked one of her lesser Maia to watch over them as well. And *that* Maia eventually fell in love with one of her little charges, and became the "fairy wife" of Took legend.

A good protectress. And she's right - they are charming! Author Reply: It's part of one of my crack-pot theories about hobbits, that Yavanna was made their protector by Eru, and that she made a few enhancements to them.

Awww; Yavanna succumbs to Hobbit cuteness - a wonderful response to the Y prompt. Congratulations for taking on the entire Alphabet Challenge, btw! Author Reply: How can *anyone* resist hobbit-cuteness (except for Orcs and ruffians, of course)? It was hard. Some of the prompts I thought were deliberately difficult. I confess, however that I didn't do the special character prompts at the end. I had some things going on in RL that prevented it. But I was determined to get at least the whole *regular* alphabet, no matter what!

Aaawwww! That is so cute - they are charming, aren't they? Children of Yavanna, most definitely. I don't know how you do it, Dreamflower. You have risen to these challenges with incredible skill. Author Reply: Thank you! I love challenges--they make me have to stretch for things I wouldn't otherwise try.

Yes, if they have a special Vala for their patronage, for Hobbits it must be Yavanna; and I certainly agree that they are charming. Author Reply: I am quite sure of it myself! They seem so in tune with the things that are important to her. And as for charm, well, we know all about that--they've certainly charmed *us*, haven't they? ;-)

Hehehehe wee new hobbity creatures :-) :-) This is cute, and I like that a Valar can catch yawning :-) Author Reply: They are quite new in this! And yawning is the kind of thing that is contagious for *anybody*, LOL!

They do grow on you don't they? Author Reply: They do indeed! *grin*

That was just *too* cute!! I mean, really - you don't intend to expound on this wonderul tale?? This was a mere teaser for me. Again, most excellent. :-) PF Author Reply: I may at some point in time. But this was just a drabble incorporating one of my own crackpot theories about hobbits.

Aw! It seems that no one can resist the charms of hobbits, not even one of the Vala. Author Reply: Well, no! Of course not! And she'll see that they become even *more* charming!
