| Not sure how realistic I find this. I don't think orcs would *really* do that, I think they'd be more interested in what hobbits taste like than... that. Pretty scary notion. Author Reply: Who knows? Scary indeed. It would have been terrifying in any case, just the threat or fear of it would have been enough to give nightmares. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) | |

| *shudder* The memory of Frodo's nightmarish capture is portrayed wiht uncanny believability here. | I am glad to see another chapter of this, even if it is, as usual, angsty. "Angsty" seems shallow to describe this, but then, *is* there a right word? Oh, the thought of what the Orcs would surely have done if not for Shagrat makes me shudder, even though they didn't do it. I'm glad they left that gift unspoiled. Poor Sam! Those dreams would be torture, and I do think it would feel worse to wake and wish to find Frodo so desperately but know that he couldn't, not yet. Keep it up! | Yes, Frodo and Sam have one another to rejoice for, to be grateful for, and to anticipate seeing once more, when the time is right. And for all the violation of spirit Frodo has known, he yet has remained far more pure than he realizes. It will take a time on Tol Eressea to come to that realization, I think. Author Reply: I think any rape victim would feel this way but he was filled with filth, but not filthy himself. You're right that it would take a while for him to realize that. | Welcome back Antane and a Blessed Easter to you. But what a chapter to come back with - urgh! *shivers*. Dreams can be so vivid. But, may be Sam is underestimating his Rosie. Author Reply: Happy Easter right back to you, dear harrowcat! I knew this would not be a nice chapter to start off with but the tower scene is my favorite in the book for its loving reunion which I hope to get to tonight if I'm lucky. (It's my favorite in the BBC adaptation for that complete meltdown Frodo has, wow is that vivid or what, I had no idea reading it that is what is going on and then I think of how very deliberately calm he is in the movie during the same scene and how much strength that took to restrain what he couldn't in the book or radio. I figure he did because he had already attacked Sam with Sting and he didn't want to put his brother through that again). Namarie, God bless, Antane :) | |
