I like Finwe - he must have found it impossible to understand how Miriel could have deserted him and Feanor. And Nerdanel - left abandoned by husband and sons to mourn them and feel guilt she probably didn't deserve. While Feanor ... what a self-centred, self-obsessed, self-pitying excuse for an elf he is. He deserves to spend a very long time stuck in a small room with Turin Turambar ... ... ... Author Reply: LOL! Well both were marked by the professor himself as two very important characters during the final battle at the end of Arda. They surely would have a lot to talk about. Still I can follow Fëanor's reasoning: if nothing of his parents are left and all what he looked up to and loved is taken from him, what will keep a man like him to a place where he feels constrained by the Valar (Melkor's influence)? But oh yes, Finwe, Miriel had so much to live for and he felt that he himself was just in his youth. His desire for more children did stirr up a lot and not only set the course for a lot of grief & pain within his own house. Yet Fingolfin and Finarfin made a huge difference in the Music of the Ainur, so yes... what was Eru thinking ;) Thanks for the review!

Very intriguing concept, well-executed. I particularly liked the drabbles pertaining to Finwe, Celebrimbor (surely a chip of his grandfather's block), and poor, forsaken Nerdanel. Author Reply: Thanks Raksha! Many contain just in between musings I occasionally have about the Fëanorians, did Fëanor name his jewels (ignores a grinning bunny)? Finwë's desire to live a life, more children, but loving Miriel and their son so much. Fëanor's love for his father, his feeling of dispossessed at that moment, because he did had no parents anymore... I have my own favourites in this series, Maglor of course, but Caranthir was another one that I really liked. Anyway, thanks for the review Raksha!

Such great emotions they each experienced, although the death of Finrod has always moved me most, somehow. Author Reply: I think it might be because Finrod saw the noble cause in aiding Beren in a romantic quest perhaps? The Oath of Fëanor and everything that came from it stems on something so different: revenge, pride, honour and grief. Although the seeds for this tragedy were sown so many years before the oath was sworn, this house has been marred the most, imho of course.

Beautifully done! What a neat (and succinct) way to tell their story - by focusing on the moments of silence and contemplation, we see the quieter, doubting side of this bunch, which is so often forgotten since they are usually noisy and impulsive. Ending it with Nerdanel was inspired. Author Reply: Nerdanel was quite insistent to be added to tell you the truth, I had this series already in beta, but she kept on coming back, so I gave her the last drabble and suddenly it felt full circle. From Miriel who chose to forsake to Nerdanel pondering what her reason would be to stay, with her children and love gone. In that respect Miriel and Nerdanel are each other's opposites, yet both had a huge influence on the fate of this house. It seemed almost fitting to start and end with the both. I tried to express my take on the character's thoughts and emotions in every drabble and was quite surprised by either the chattiness of a muse or the silence. Thank you for the wonderful review!
