Hey, that's a clever way of thnkniig about it.

Author Reply: Glad you think so!

Oh Larner! Oh Valar, see, this is why I do NOT envy my mom when she goes to work every day (she's a preschool teacher, and has about 8 toddlers on any given day!) Nanny McPhee...yeah, heard of her, but I never saw the movie...or is it movies, now? I need to see what all this is about! Hehe! But something tells me she's not quite Mary Poppins, then? Naughty hobbits! And poor Rose-mum, expecting number 13 and all!

Kaylee

Author Reply: There are two Nanny McPhee movies now, although I really must give equal time eventually to my beloved Mary Poppins! Hopefully the children will all be tamed by the time she, Elanor, Sam, and little Tolman return from Gondor!

Nanny McPhee is truly a delightful movie--do give it a try!

*giggles* Oh man, I can't believe I didn't read this before! That is just too cute! I can just imagine how the little Gamgees will handle Nanny McPhee in their smial!
God bless,
Ellie

Author Reply: Am so glad you got a kick out of this one, Elanor. And I think that in the end all will enjoy the stay far more than the children now anticipate.

Thanks so for the review!

Darling! These are great! I salute you! (gives best salute)

Author Reply: So glad you enjoy them. (Larner bows acknowledgment.) Thanks!

JUst delightful and i loved the twist at the end. I didn't alas get to see the film, but the trailer showed enough to make me able to imagine it. However did Sam and Rosie produce such naughty children? Delightfully amusing. Poor Elanor !

Author Reply: Well, there had to be SOME reason the rest of the children stayed home but Elanor got to go, right? And I've had this image of Nanny McPhee turning up SOMEWHERE within Arda!

And even the best children will be naughty from time to time--naughty and obstinate.

Glad to give you a laugh.

Hehehehehehehe!!!! ROFL!!! Wonderful!!! There WILL be a sequel with the Nanny and the kids, right? There will, won't there? Hmm? Pretty please? muahahahahahaaaaaa........

Author Reply: I'm not certain that a full sequel would be accepted here on this site, but I might consider it, of course. If I were to write it I'd have to post it elsewhere. But so glad it gave you a laugh. Even the best children can be naughty!

Well that is a great grin after torrential rain, floods and a very wet dog of a day in the Midlands.

Jet sends you a good shake of his coat with a grin on his face!

Author Reply: We've had returns of this year's rains, although the later days may prove hot again before cooling off once more. So glad to give you a laugh to forget sogginess.

And my dogs also shake off the precipitation and send a tail wag or two.

Uh-oh! *snicker* I know this is the anthology for your AUs, but I just *couldn't* imagine what was AU about this one--until the very end!

Poor Elanor! What a time she had! But it would be kind of interesting to see what the other children do while in the charge of their rather--unusual caretaker, LOL!

Author Reply: We know that only Sam, Rosie, and Elanor are reported to have gone, and that they returned with little Tolman in hand, but we don't truly know the disposition of the rest of the children while they were gone, of course. And as Nanny McPhee has been knocking at my door with increasing insistence lately, plot bunny in hand, I found this insisted on being written. So glad you enjoyed it.

As for following through on the story--I'd have to post it elsewhere, but I'll consider it....

Wonderful, Larner! Poor Elanor...doomed by good and responsible behavior! My grandkids (five lovely darlins' from ages 12 to 2 years) have engaged in the same games, ganging up on the one in favor. *sighs in fond exasperation* Aren't kids great??

I, for one, would love to see this scenario played out - maybe with the Valar noting Lord Perhael's difficulties with his offspring and sending a Maia in the guise of Nanny McPhee to sort the children out! After all, Sam won't accept honor (or if he does, only grudgingly)...I would love to see his face when he returns to a changed household! LOL *sends a bunny or two scampering Larner's way* I even have a birthday...sometime...:-) *bats eyes entreatingly* (just kidding...well...sort of.....)

Great story..full of potential...see what you have reduced me to?

Linda

Author Reply: Oh, Linda, it's great to hear from you again! We didn't tend to do this, but I've certainly heard of families where it was done regularly to send a child to Coventry (one of the official titles for shunning someone in this manner). The others aren't being fair, of course, and it's certainly not Elanor's fault the rest of them are in trouble.

To go through the rest of the story would necessitate posting on another site, and of course I'll consider it, but I do have so many legitimate plot bunnies and nuzguls working at me! The newest nuzgul at least isn't shaming himself by wearing false ears, but is perched atop the bookcase that holds the true-crime collection, and it's proving hard to resist him right now and get on with the Tenant and Rings!

ROTFL!

Oh, that's the best laugh I've had in a few days! I knew Nanny McPhee would be the one. And she's certainly needed here! LOL Such behavior! Lucky for Sam and Rosie it probably wasn't really like this.

“Daddy,” she said in a small voice as he took her in
his arms, “they were all horrible today--all of them! They’ve been fighting and Ruby was cutting things with my scissors--she crawled on top of my dresser
to get into my sewing bag, and she broke my glass cat! And Frodo and Rosie-lass got caught eating the strawberries for the Thain, and then Rosie had a
fit because Robin found her caramels, and Primmie’s been going blind all evening, and Daisy’s ashamed because she’s blue--never mind she spilled ink over
everything and it won’t wash off and I don’t know if we can get the stain out of the carpet, and my new bodice is all over dirt, and....” She couldn’t
go on, just rested in his arms, shaking, tears flowing down her face.

Aw, poor Ellie! But I must say, Primrose's hysterics over going blind from a little poke had me thinking of the movie A Christmas Story, when the boy dreams of going blind from "soap poisoning", hahahaha! I love the things young kids come up with (though in Primrose's case that really could have been dangerous).

I'd be interested to see how this bunch fared with Nanny McPhee. *grins*
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: I now am fighting an urge to have Nanny McPhee and Travers's own Mary Poppins fighting for the honor to serve Lord Perhael's children in this capacity, and believe me, it's been difficult to resist THAT plot bunny! As for how this group would deal with being under Nanny McPhee's tutelage--well, that's a story for another time, and, due to restrictions on crossovers for this site, another board as well. But we will see what we will see, of course.
