| Dear Pearl, I enjoyed this story a great deal! I don't mind, if it might be AU or not, because it is very much in-character for both, Merry and Pippin - and for the elves, who were able to make them think that it was but a dream! Maybe it was even consoling or at least distracting when they found out the truth after so many years on that very day when Frodo left Middle Earth. | Swift indeed the horses of the Elves, and wonderful their magic to trick the minds of lesser beings. And a dream it was NOT. So glad they recognized that truth. | Lovely! I wondered if this were better marked "AU" but you handled it beautifully. Gave me shivers. Author Reply: Thank you, Lin :-) I'm glad it was shivery. AU because they weren't supposed to ever have gone so far from the Shire? I hadn't even remembered that Merry tells Haldir that he's never seen the Havens nor been out of the Shire - Llinos and Marigold brought it up to me as they thought I had intentionally done this to panic those who did remember and know I like to stick to canon. Hehehe The twist is a bit different (and better) than I had originally written. Llinos came up with what's here, though it's similar to what I had. Thank you for giving it a read, Lin :-) | |
