| The green young warrior has passed through his baptism by fire, and will prevail in the end; and with Aragorn to speak for him and perhaps offer training the youth may get the training it appears he now deserves. | i love it, it's a little window into the trilogy that really shows emotion. but it doesn't linger on sadness, aragorn moves on, in a way, and the audience therefore do as well. good job Author Reply: Thanks for your comments. Yes, given the nature of the situation, Aragorn had little choice but to move on. He knew that his giving in to emotion would do neither himself nor anyone else any good. | I liked this very much. It unfortunately wouldn't have been at all unusual for young boys to already be serving as apprentices to healers, and speaking from personal experience, the first time you see a truly horrific wound or set of wounds, you do get a bit green around the gills. And Aragorn realizing that he's become a bit less 'green' than he'd like as well, that was a nice touch. Very nicely done! Author Reply: Thanks so much for your comments, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. One of the things that disturbs me about the battles of ME is that Aragorn, Gimli, Faramir, etc--all the heroes we love to love--would have at one time been that little boy, facing the brutal realities of war for the first time. This vignette was originally written for a prompt, "Green," and of course, all these nice, little pastoral settings came to mind. But then the idea of being green, as in being a novice, came to me and this little vignette is the result. Allee | |
