Awww…yes, it is hard to lose a comrade, even a dog. But how sweet to see this tender moment between father and younger son.

Oh, this one got to me. I think anyone who has lost a pet would react just as Faramir and Boromir did. Beautifully done. Author Reply: Thank you GW - I think it's hardest when a pet means something even beyond the normal boundaries of a 'pet' - when my Lab died, it was even more difficult because the lab had been my deceased husband's dog. It was like losing another 'remembrance' of my husband. Which is why it seemed particularly hard for Faramir...

It is so hard to lose our four-footed friends. They often know things no one else does . . . because we can be sure they won't repeat it. A lovely gift for you friend. Author Reply: Thanks Pearl. I've lost two dogs in the recent past and the pain is difficult. So when my friend lost her dog, it was easy enough (though hard emotionally) to put myself in her place and just hug her with this longish drabble.

A sweetly touching scene--I loved Boromir's quick turnaround from "I will give him such a shaking--" (great line!) to comforting his brother. A very authentic life-moment that speaks to the kind hearts of all concerned. Author Reply: Thank you. I had to write it for my friend... both 2 and 4 legged!

Oh Agape...This is so..so...*right*. I lost my Puss Puss close to three years ago this summer and where Faramir and Boromir buried their dog is so close to what we did w/Puss Puss. He loved this one tree and that's where he's sleeping now. Just as w/Faramir's dog, it was the right place for him. This is so sad, but also very, very right. Thanks for sharing it w/us. Author Reply: I can't even count the number of pets that got buried in the back yard. Most were budgies and lizards and such. Unfortunately, we had 'large' dogs - so we could not bury them ourselves. That is very sad. I'm very glad this touched you... I hope it helps in the healing! Friends sharing things like this always help!

I, too, can see this all too well. Have buried so many love pets over the years. Author Reply: Isn't that the truth, Larner. Too many pets... so much love... but they gave so much of themselves... that's the best things about pets... they just keep giving till the very end!
