Sure. It was rather stupid of me not to do so to begin with. I first noticed a problem when they were in the tree and you mention Aragorn had to "suck it up". The others are also modernized terms, such as "whatever". And nice update! Author Reply: I see what you mean. I do sometimes tend to use terms that are a bit modernistic, though I am careful not to use those that are way off base. For example, I would never have Aragorn say, "My bad" or even refer, in the narrative, to emotions going up and down "like a roller coaster" (I've actually seen that in an LOTR story!). I consider mine more on the fringe of acceptability. After all, Tolkien had Elrond use the term "nick of time" at the Council of Elrond, so I figure I have a little leeway, though I'll try to be even more careful. Glad you liked the chapter.

It is time for Aragorn to ask that question. At least the trolls have given up on where they're holed up. Now to find out how to get out of there, once they're reasonably sure they're safe. Author Reply: Yeah, and you know Legolas dreads hearing it. :o) The trolls are gone for the moment, which gives L & A a bit of a breather. I think finding a way to get out and actually doing it may prove to be two very different things.

I felt quite tense as the trolls started moving rocks around to look for their escapees. And what a horrifying image: a trolls hairy legs at the entrance of the cave. Not a pretty sight! What a nightmare for Legolas, though. Not only is he trapped in a cave with no immediate means of escape, but Aragorn wants to discuss his injuries. There's nowhere to run! Author Reply: I like to keep the suspense going, so being tense it good. Seeing that troll's leg was not only not a pretty sight, but thinking about what it was attached to had to be scary. The position Legolas finds himself in is not a happy one for him: Caught between being trapped in a stone, cave-like structure on the one hand and a determined and worried Aragorn on the other. Poor elf.

Oh, dear, let's see, one does not want to ask the other about his injuries for fear of getting him to dwell on them and feel worse. The other wonders why his friend isn't fussing over him, but does not want to say anything and start the fussing. One may be an elf and one a human, but they ate both definitely males. I would say they know each other quite well by now. So far, the forces of nature have helped protect them. Unfortunately, "nature" contains rocks and cave as well as trees. The trolls are getting TOO close now. Will our boys have the patience to wait out the trolls? Will it be safe to stay under those rocks much longer? You sure do now where to leave a story! Author Reply: I love the way you put that. And the topper was to say that they were both definitely males. It made me laugh. Isn't that so true? Nature can be both a friend and an enemy. So far, it's been both for L & A. Those are good questions. They will be answered as time goes by, which may not be the answer you wanted, but as you said, I know where to leave a story. :o)

Yes, Legolas, Aragorn will find out all your injuries. Think of it this way at least you won't be feeling all your pains for a while. You will be too busy fending off Aragorn. Poor Legolas, injured, shell shocked due to lightning, headache, and now claustrophobia. Oh, and Aragorn is going to start annoying him as he tries to treat all the above injuries. Besides not registering the pain he won't notice the claustrophobia as he will be to busy dealing with a worried Aragorn. Keep the story coming. Hopefully real life won't interfere to much. Author Reply: Oh my. You do know those two very well. Legolas might as well give in, because, as you say, he'll definitely be dealing with a worried Aragorn. I think the only way he can get his mind off of the tight, dark, cave-like shelter is to close his eyes and pretend he and Aragorn are in the woods. Hey, maybe the ranger will suggest that very thing. :o) I'll keep the story coming and hope RL doesn't get in the way too much.
