Another awesome gap-filler! To me this was always one of the most chilling fun to read scenes in FOTR. I love your dramatization of it! Author Reply: Thank you! It's very chilling and scary; poor Frodo!

I really like this! The moment after the stabbing proves to be one of the most painful and trying times for Frodo, one of the hardest moments fro him during the Quest. I love how the hobbits are there for him during this time. I liked the interaction you have here as well. Good job in this! <3Weathertop to Rivendell fics ;) Author Reply: I thought you might like this one! I'm glad you did.

I wanted to leave a copy of your MEFA review here so you had it with the story. I have never been a hobbity person but I really enjoyed this glimpse into the mind of Frodo after being stabbed on Amon Sul. The care shown by his friends and Strider, the concern about whether Strider could be trusted, and Frodo's internal battle with the ring was very touching. Dreamflower is a gifted writer and I really enjoyed this fiction. I think she personifies Frodo and the other hobbits rather well in this fiction. Author Reply: Why, thank you very much! I'm very pleased that you thought of doing that! And thank you also for your kind words--they are very appreciated, especially from one who is not a natural hobbit-fancier!

Oh, wow! Excellent job with this! I could almost feel everything, and I have to laugh rather sheepishly at myself, as my own body is so tense it makes it difficult to type! :) I love the careful attention to every detail of every sense! God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: What a wonderful compliment! I thought perhaps with his sight and hearing fading in and out, his other senses, especially that of touch, would come into play.

What an excellent idea to use the different font sizes! Like Frodo the reader is forced to concentrate on what the others say. Or maybe I need new glasses ;-) And then the voice of the Ring, impossible to overlook or to ignore! All the time Frodo is fighting It to protect his kin and Strider. Once again I'm fascinated by his strength! Athelas. Even the name of it was soothing That's exactly what I thought when I first read about it! Thank you very much, Dreamflower, for this mathom! Author Reply: I was very glad that the font experiment worked! Yes, it's the fight to protect others that allows him to tap into his inner strength and resist both the Ring and the Morgul-shard. JRRT had a "thing" about the sound of words--he thought they should sound like what they meant, and he planned his languages accordingly. I think "athelas" is one of his real successes. I'm very glad you liked it!

Ah, the fading in and out, and the voice of the Ring too loud and clear, while those of the others are distant and difficult to appreciate. Excellent use of font styles, Dreamflower. Author Reply: Yes--that was just the feeling I was trying to convey! It was hard to format, but worth it, I think.

Oh goodness, darling, this one hurts! It's so beautifully written that I can feel Frodo's pain and frustration and determination all at the same time. I'd never really stopped to think about Frodo's thoughts at this time, and now I'll never be able to read or watch this scene again in quite the same way. Thank you. Oh and by the way, I like what you've done with the smaller font size, it does make the conversations seem fainted and farther off. Great job! Author Reply: Wow! Thank you for the lovely review! I did want to show Frodo's combination of weakness and strength at that time--though the wound weakened him so much physically, in a way it made his strength to resist even more, as he realized the threat to his loved ones. I'm very pleased that my experiment with the font size worked. I was not sure I could format it that way here, so I was glad when it came out all right.

Oh, our poor, dear Frodo! I want to give the innocent little thing a hug! =( My goodness, being so badly hurt really must have resembled a waking nightmare! Ugh! He is so fortunate to have friends as wonderful as his 2 cousins, his newest friend Aragorn, and of course his dear beloved Sam! You lend an excellent use of description to this particular mathom, and it was an enjoyable blend of angst and comfort! The biggest shame is he has to endure this for seventeen days! Author Reply: Yes, poor dear Frodo! But he does have the love and support of his friends, so he will be all right--at least once he gets to Rivendell!
