Alas for Halbarad indeed! And hundreds of fanfickers sigh and think of AU's where Halbarad grows old in peace and prosperity during Aragorn's kingship of Gondor and Arnor. Nicely done, a lifetime of friendship and shared danger frozen in a hundred words. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased you liked this, which I reworked quite a bit from the original.I wish Halbarad had lived but can't bring myself to write AU.

And we see the loss of one as dear as a brother to him--his first friend among Men, I believe. Well done, Linda. Author Reply: Thank you. I agree with you that Halbarad was dear as a brother to Aragorn. I find their meeting on the road very moving.

Evocative and touching. I was just reading "...and my death lies beyond it" the other day, as a matter of fact. Well done. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review. This was my first attempt at writing Halbarad, a character I've always liked.I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

Nicely put Linda. (But I still prefer Surgical Steel's AU where Halbarad lives!) Author Reply: Thank you. I'm sad poor Halbarad dies and too much of a canon purist to write AU. Have you read Radbrooks delightful tale where he lives too?
