“A sword in the guts would be best,” Elphir murmured. There's a prince with a good grasp of diplomacy! (Not that he's wrong.) I think Lothiriel's ... mental powers ... will probably come in very handy at some point. Although Orion doubtless thinks they've already had their uses! As will the bolt-hole, I fear. Edwick is a good man. Author Reply: Elphir improves with age - well at least he is able to hide his real thoughts! Lothy has a lot to do in her life and yes - the bolt hole will come in handy.LBJ

I've just read both chapters together, so please excuse the single comment. I'm really looking forward to more. It's a nice balance of seeing their younger years and building tension (that nasty prince, the likelihood of the secret trapdoor being necessary). The characters are delightful - portents of the strength they will need to show in later life and also the uncertainties and weaknesses of youth and human-kind. Thank you! Author Reply: Thank you for reviewing. Yes , the tension does increase a bit - a liitle more than most of my stories. Its interesting trying to write about them at a younger age because although their chatacters would already be set, they would lack maturity. I hope you enjoy the rest of the story - it goes on for quite a while. LBJ
