| you are really a good writer! I also finished elf academy 1 and loved it!!! I like this website a lot, I've been reading a lot of lotr fabric from other sites and even the stories that are creative and clever are often clumsy and, well, just BAD. I cringe when I read " He fought unsuccessfully to suppress a grin..." 4 times in the same paragraph. And not to mention how SLUUUTTEEEE the Elves are! I mean, of course after living a couple of thousand years they've probably done everything under the Sun, but YIKES! I like that ever character is treated with respect. However, I do wish I could've been there when Glorfindel started stripping mmmmm! Author Reply: Hello Diana. I'm so glad you've enjoyed this story and Elf Academy 1. I hope you continue to read the rest of the Elf Academy series and all the other stories, mine and others. Stories of Arda has many fine writers who take their craft seriously and endeavor to write the very best they can, treating the characters, whatever their race, with respect. | I must admit the maidenly part of me is quite flushed with slight embarrassment… laughs, yet there’s a warm glow in my heart and I’m poignantly touched with the beautiful symbolism in what was supposed to be a foolish bet. It’s moving how you associated the baring of the body not with shame or sex but with the innocent and desperate hope inside the hearts of men for a better year that would bring about healing from the past’s painful betrayal. What gripped me the most like Glorfindel was when Legolas unbraided his hair, completely humbling himself, truly stripping himself of all rank and honor. The next would be was when Legolas broke down and Glorfindel embraced him, frightened of what he was to do yet too honourable to back out, deep inside not wanting to disappoint his friends. There’s a part of me that felt like crying at such love and devotion. Thank goodness for Arwen who managed to enforce some order in the court and for sparing Legolas the shame at being ogled at more than necessary, it was the best she could do for forbidding him from fulfilling the farce of a bet would only shame him further and make him appear like a coward. I wouldn't be surprised if Aragorn received a sound scolding for his hare-brained idea, but all’s well ends well. Who could have ever thought that a story that ends with three handsome characters dancing naked could be without malice or sexual tension? It must be due to the fact that though bare in body they were wrapped warmly with love and friendship. Like the characters I believe that everyone should have an experience in baring themselves once in a while, to simply get naked, expose ones soul to judgment without care and just laugh and dance and rejoice for another day given. Magnificent, refreshing, liberating, and absolutely good for the soul is how I will describe this story. Author Reply: Hello LadyMacabre. It always surprises and pleases me when someone reviews an older story of mine. I very much enjoyed your analysis of Legolas and the baring of body and soul in this context. Our prurient society, unfortunately, seems to equate nakedness only with sex or shame and never with innocence. I hoped to show that it can also mean that as well with this story. | I can't believe I have not reviewed this before. Glorfindel and Aragorn are very, very naughty! I wonder who thought of it, I can see Glorfindel coming up with the idea and Aragorn going along with it. Yes, he was truely naked before all, his faith in the love of his friends gave him the strength to complete the ceremony and he was justified in it as his friends joined him in the end. Pity Pippen was on duty, I could see him running off with Legolas' drawers! Hm, naked Elf on a horse, something to think about tonight before going to sleep! Huggs, Lynda Author Reply: I guess better late than never, Lynda. *LOL* I was rather surprised to even see a review for this after so long a time. Yes, Glorfindel and Aragorn were rather naughty and they go caught in their own trick by Legolas' deep sense of honor. I bet they were really surprised when he insisted on going through with it and decided to do what they did to lessen Legolas' embarrassement. That'll larn them. *LOL* Anyway, I won't even touch that last sentence of yours. You are entirely on your own with that! Glad you enjoyed the story as much the second time around as the first. | Legolas is hands down my favorite elf, with Glorfindel a very close second. Those two seem to have so much in common. And Legolas takes all off - even the braids! And Glorfindel remembers a similar time. And of course he also disrobed - would he do any less? What a picture you managed to paint in my mind of Legolas fulfulling his wager - naked and still manages to keep his dignity - only an elf could do that! *snicker* I'm afraid I would have had to find a way to peek in on that entire scene! I wonder if Arwen did?! Thanks again for a great story! Author Reply: I was as surprised as Glorfindel was when he saw Legolas undoing his braids. Of course, both Glorfindel and Aragorn weren't about to let Legolas endure the 'shame' of being naked alone, considering they were the ones who tricked him into it. I'm sure Arwen had a great deal of self-control, though that might not have been true for the other ladies of the court. *grin* I'm glad you enjoyed the story. THanks for reviewing. | |

| You are a wonderful, wicked author, and just brilliant. This if the Glorfindel of "Elf, Interrupted"--and Legolas is easily his equal, though young and not as experienced. For him to take out even his braids was just superb! Truly naked indeed.... :) And how delightfully pagan to dance in Yule with nakedness and candle-light! The song is brilliant, and scans pretty nicely. We've done the Cornish Wassail at my church, and I had a solo verse--so maybe I'm an Elf too! *grins* Thank you! Now I really do have to stop having such fun, and go do some work.... Author Reply: You are a wonderful, wicked author, and just brilliant. Why, thank you. *grin* It's the best compliment I've had all week. I didn't even know Legolas was going to undo his braids until Glorfindel turned around and saw him at it. I was just as stunned as he was. *grin* I had fun trying to come up with a song that was suitable to Middle-earth and ended up taking parts of three different wassails to create my version. | That must have been a sight. The 3 lords dancing naked in front of the whole court. Even if there were no women or children in the room. I think the good courtiers will talk about these yule celebrations for years to come. That was a very powerful moment when Legolas undid his braids. But luckily nobody except Glorfindel and probably Aragorn would know the significance of it. | Beautifully written as always and good fun.I have to say though, I just cannot see Aragorn acting like this in public.He needs to keep his dignity before the court to maintain his authority. Author Reply: Perhaps, but considering that most of the court at Annúminas is made up of is Dúnedain Rangers, I doubt they really care. | Aaaah.......*needs to sit back and takes a deep breath*. You know, I simply couldn't review this earlier. I wanted to wait until I dreamed of this fic. I did so last night and now, I feel coherent enough to leave you a review, my dear Fiondil. Speaking of Legolas being a honorable elf - I must agree. This was a question of honor, of course. And I had this feeling that he wouldn't be so alone in his beautiful nakedness when he started undoing his warroir braids, which was, in fact, one of most emotionally described scenes I read since EI. You are the master of elven emotions, so pure and from the heart, they always make me cry. Your gentle and delicate words, with some tender, well-placed humor as a literary icing are like a soft but subtle breeze of warm spring air to my heart. I can't say more, because no review would do you any justice. I thank you so much you wrote this for me. Your fics are offering me a strength I didn't know I could draw from mere words - aside from the fact that those aren't mere words. But you know that, don't you? Thank you so much, my friend. Nina Author Reply: The scene of Legolas undoing his warrior braids, without so much as a comment from him or Glorfindel, is indeed very powerful and for me it was unexpected. I did not see Legolas doing this until Glorfindel turned around and saw him. It was as much a shock to me as it was to our favorite balrog-slayer. *grin* Thank you for your words. | Great story. I am glad that Legolas had the nerve to go through with it, and he was not alone. Frankly I wish I would have been there to view the festivities. | For shame Glorfindel! What if there are children in the hall? You know, your cliffhanger in Elf Interrupted had made me wish this year will finish faster!!! Author Reply: Well, since Aragorn specifically told Legolas that Arwen had forbidden any women or children in the hall and since Aragorn and Leoglas were both standing there naked, I'm not sure why you're upset about Glorfindel removing his clothes. I'm glad you're anxious for the next installment of Elf, Interupted, but it will not be coming any time soon. You'll just have to be patient. | |
