Interesting that Aragorn first sees Faramir as a rival, much as Denethor had seen him. So glad he overcame the urge to let him go. Much the better person for doing so. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I think that Aragorn's generous heart is what most makes him differ from Denethor.

A lesser man than Aragorn might have let his rival, already so close to death, slip away, thereby helping to assure that his claim to Gondor's crown would meet scant opposition. Luckily, Aragorn was no ordinary man; and could rise above such pettiness. Well-written look at a crucial moment in the history of Gondor. Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review, my first for this drabble.I think this the moment Aragorn proves his quality, like Faramir does in resisting the Ring.
