| I was randomly exploring the Search feature, and came across your name on the author's list, which I had never noticed before, and since you are on my friend's list on LJ and I was looking for a hobbity story I'd not yet read... This was so very evocative and atmospheric. You captured so well the feelings of gloom and despair Merry must have felt during those long days of waiting to hear. I enjoyed the way you built in the respite from angst with the visits with Bergil and his friends. How hard it must have been for Merry, who was always so protective of his kin and friends, and who so liked to plan for everything, to realize how there was absolutely nothing more he could do but wait. You captured all that feeling wonderfully. Now I must check out your other story. | |

| The flow of the story is a little disjointed, but you capture Merry's thoughts and feelings beautifully, and the tense atmosphere of waiting in the city is very effective. | |
