An evil Hurin? Who would have guessed. That he gloried at Boromir's death and then killed Frodo is uncomprehensible. I got the chills reading this. Tari Author Reply: Dearest Hurin is such a goody-two-shoes over at 10,000 Years that I decided the poor man needed a change. Glad he 'chilled' you!

Odd but good :-) It took me awhile to get the feel for it. I had not thought of Denethor sending someone to make sure Boromir did not fail. I like how you describe the feeling of the touch of the Ring upon Hurin. Author Reply: I don't think he sent Hurin because he thought Boromir would fail. He saw the threat in the Palantir and sent a friend to help. *shivers* Unfortunately, the friend was easily overcome by the Ring.

Ah--Agape--this is so horrible to contemplate! Aaaah! Hurin had thought to take it for Denethor, but now has been taken by it---- And Frodo--our Frodo! No! No! Certainly a character I'd never thought of in terms of taking the Ring. As for what this one will come to--he has yet to learn the truth of the statement that of old Sauron was known as the Liar, and the epithet belongs to the Ring as well! Author Reply: It seemed to me that Boromir would have trusted Hurin implicitly. As I read ROTK, I noted that IMO Hurin is really third in the line... Denethor as Steward is first, of course, then Boromir as Captain-General is second, then Hurin, Warden of the Keys, is third. He literally runs Gondor while Aragorn is off at the Black Gate... That Denethor would send someone to help the Quest (but not in the way we would think) seems plausible. They were on Gondor's soil by this time, else Denethor would not have heard Boromir's horn. With the help of the Palantir, he could have found Boromir on the Anduin and sent someone off. That Hurin should be the one - who knows why. That the Ring, even though not near, should 'claim' Hurin seems plausible. Hurin's blood was not as high as Boromir's and Boromir fell to its whiles. So there poor Boromir is - wounded - and sees a trusted friend/leader. In that state, I think it quite likely he would have told Hurin to help. Poor deluded Boromir. Now - as for Hurin - I'm not writing anymore of this tale - though it might be fun - but Hurin is in for a huge shock! As we all know. Thanks for reviwing!!! Psst - sorry about Frodo... *ducks flying tomatoes*
