| Great work, Larner, and touching. It is putting Frodo’s feelings from the slow decline up to the end together very well, and it is so good to see him rejoyce once more towards the end. | Lovely, especially the last few paragraphs as he thanks the One Who healed him and speaks of the life that still is beyond him in his true home and that he will still work from there and love the very end too! Hantanyel to both of you! Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Oh, I suspect that by the time Frodo's healing was well under way he was already well familiar with Iluvatar and rejoiced to be able to offer his thanks. And by that time I also suspect he was as ready for the next great Adventure as our beloved Bilbo ever was. Thank you, Antane! | |

| Wow! That was beautifully done, Larner! Like Dreamflower I found it very fitting that Frodo asked Pippin to look after Merry and Sam and to give them comfort. I also liked this passage: I’m glad I’m no Elf, e’er doomed to remain within bounds of Arda in Time’s great domain. It is really an advantage to be mortal when you think about it. And where Frodo and Sam are going there are no bounds to be found! Only eternity - real, pure eternity! Author Reply: Thank you, Andrea. Yes, Frodo asked Pippin to care for Merry and Sam, recognizing just how perceptive the younger Hobbit had become. And as he'd so appreciated Pippin's skills at raising his own spirits, he expects the same blessing for his cousin and his friend. And for Pippin, giving comfort appears to comfort him much of the time; thus does Frodo see all three comforted! I'm so glad you appreciated the look at mortality as the true gift it's intended to be. Thank you so much! | |

| This is very moving, Larner. It was indeed a difficult choice he had to make. I think what I like best is that he charges Pippin to look after Merry and Sam. It shows how well he knows them, in knowing that when it came to comforting their hearts, it would be Pippin who would have the strength to do so. Author Reply: I agree--in so many ways Pippin is the one who understands best what others need, the one who in his own, special way is strongest, and designed to be the Comforter. He must have been a marvelous Thain! Thank you! | |
