| Yeah, right, lady, just tell yourself it's nothing but common courtesy - who do you think you're fooling? ;-) The mentioning of firefoot again reminded me of what I meant to write earlier but forgot: I like the way you have mirrored the relationship between the humans in the relationship between the horses. Okay, just one more chapter, and then I'll definitely go to bed. Author Reply: The relationship between the horses will actually continue throughout the story. | My dear, I know I'm repeating myself - but what a gift you have when it comes to writing the Marshall and his Princess! It always puzzles me how little some of the authors who try their hand on love stories and more "explicit" scenes know about the sheer power of true eros. The grazing of a hand... the whiff of the smell that clings to the skin of a man... the warmth radiating from the strong body directly behind you... so much more thrilling and even arousing than the trite descriptions of "what has to be put where". You've become a mistress of that silent - and enormously difficult - art. *bows to you* Cúthalion Author Reply: Thank you so much for your kind words! Like you, I think that it does not take a lot of explicit language to build up tension between the protagonists, on the contrary. | Oh, I DON'T like Grima's plotting--not at all! And he's so obvious about it in some ways! The kites are such a wonderful idea, and the thought of the "butchered" nightgowns has me smiling. As for this gift and the gift of a bodyguard--she HAS caught more than just his eye, I suspect! Now, as to how she becomes queen of this land..... Author Reply: Hello Larner, the kites are a bit of a hobby of mine, though I never thought I would use them in a story - until I got the idea for this one. And I think I'm not giving any secrets away when I agree that she has caught more than just his eye - probably from the very beginning. But they've still got a long way ahead of them. Lia | |

| What should Lothiriel do? That is the question. I think Eomer knows about Gondorian customs concerning gifts and is hoping that Lothiriel thinks he doesn't now, sly fox. But what will Grima do? I think by now he knows her wardrobe to the last piece and a new cloak has to be suspicious. I love the idea with the kites. And Lothiriel is very brave to stay in Rohan with her escort gone. Who can she turn to to get protection from Grima? It is a dangerous game she is playing, but I love it. Author Reply: Hello Obsidianj, I agree Eomer might well know more about Gondorian customs than he lets on and might even mistake what is - of course - nothing but politeness on her side for something more encouraging. And Lothiriel is indeed playing a dangerous game, for Grima has had plenty of opportunity to observe her... Lia | |

| Hi Lia! This is flowing along so smoothly, it's a treat to read. Well, what mischief is Grima up to sending the Dol Amroth guard away?? Hmmmmmm! I wonder if it was payback for Lotheriel stepping in to save Eomer's butt in the hall? I can't wait to see what you've got him doing next. I'm ecstatic that you have Lotheriel staring right back at him in the dining hall. Chuckles!!! As for Lotheriel, I'm thinking that Rohans customs are very alike to Dol Amroth and she has just received a proposal - do I hear bells????? Eagerly awaiting your next chapter. Author Reply: Hello Alatriel, I think I'm giving no secrets away when I say that Grima is of course up to no good. Lets just say that he does not like people interfering with his plans... As for a proposal - not quite, but an encouraging sign for Eomer, I think. But the bells...don't hold your breath! You've read my other stories, you know that my happy ends have to be earned. | I enjoyed this a lot! I suspect that the cloak isn't merely a "gift." I'm curious to find out how the kites work in action when Eomer uses them. Thanks for writing! Author Reply: Hello Alquawende, well, Lothiriel won't get to see the kites in action herself, but they will work. | What a fabulous gift Eomer gave her! Clearly it required much thought and planning. LOL, if she wears it and finds out in doing so she has accepted a proposal, will she be disappointed? Author Reply: Hello Nilmandra, well, if she wears it she won't actually accept a proposal, but of course you can't go and accept expensive presents from men without encouraging them (even if you're only doing it because your father told you to be diplomatic...). | This chapter seemed very tactile, with silk and fur and cold and warmth. Lothiriel did a brave thing by staying behind, and the kites demonstrate her cleverness and hard work.
