A Hunting We Will Go  by Linda Hoyland 5 Review(s)
VirtuellaReviewed Chapter: Prologue on 8/12/2008
Ah, Gondorians are just not as good at cooking mushrooms as hobbits are! I like the banter between Aragorn and Faramir. You have such a lovely sense of humour.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I always imagine Aragorn and Faramir as fair cooks, but not up to Hobbit standard! I think writing has helped me develop more of a sense of humour,so thank you as my friends rarely say that!

Linda, as usual, the reviewed version is improved. How so like Aragorn and Faramir to spare the doe and do with blackberries hazelnuts and unripe mushrooms.

You made us feel how content they are with the simple life of Rangers.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked it!I just could not imagine Aragorn or faramir killing the doe.I think they both take the greatest joy in simple things.

Ah, a marvelous--and too believable--start. They wished to hunt and fish and live off the land, and find they get little in return--save for the glory of the night.

That should perhaps be a shooting star or a falling star rather than a comet, but otherwise it is perfect!

Yes, to wish upon a falling star has ever been deemed lucky.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you are enjoying this. I thought even Kings and Stewards must have frustrating days at times!
I've changed "comet" to "shooting star" as that was what I meant. Thanks for pointing it out.

Great fun Linda. I agree with Faramir about shooting the doe. A day or two on mushrooms etc won't hurt the figure! Query, (not criticism,) can mushrooms be 'unripe'?

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked it!I have been researching the mushrooms, but now fancy that is an old wives'tale I heard when young!

An enjoyable tale of two men of high estate with a love of simple things and a history as Rangers. How nice that Faramir and Aragorn have each other, as kindred spirits, to keep company in the wilds.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story. Aragorn and Faramir are indeed fortunate to have one another!
