Shards of Courage   by Alassante 4 Review(s)

"Isildur had fostered me since my sister had married his eldest son, Elendur. My father sent me to Isildur to be trained as his squire, but he was more to me than my King. His kindness and wisdom to me had formed a strong bond that was unbreakable even through death."
Interesting back story created here. Also about Isildur wanting to be fair. One forgets he lived a life other than stealing the fruit--wait a minute--, fleeing Numenor, claiming the Ring and being betrayed by my.
I suppose it really was a good thing Isildur told him to flee with the shards, and that he did. And a sword IS much more useful than a crown. If it had been one of his sons, they would probably have been more targeted...and even less likely too leave. Making him the brother of Isildur's daughter-in-law though...
Of course Valandil will look like his father if Aragorn does. Even if Aragorn is Aragorn.
Hmmm I have never actually read of these events in detail or their point of view before. I suppose Elrond saying the sword will be reforged for you V, he knows it will be a descendant.
Interesting and tragic.

I like your interpretation of Ohtar. Isildur is also nicely interpreted.

Excellent thoughts and story, and well written.

Author Reply: Thank you very much Larner. I did enjoy researching and writing about Ohtar. Such a sad job to do what he did.
