I thought, I have already read all your published stories - but no, this one is not in the other archives I follow. Perfect moment, indeed - I very much wish something like this had happened. Or that it at the very least will happen in your fabulous Lords of Gondor, although then you would need to deal with Denethor meeting Aragorn as well. (-: Iva Author Reply: I'm glad you found this -- it encouraged me greatly to get a review from you! I am still undecided about whether this will be part of Lords of Gondor or not. I can't quite figure out how to get Boromir home in time, is part of the problem. But I haven't given up seeing if it's possible to turn the tale around so that it ends well for Denethor. Though, as you say, Aragorn and Denethor would have to be dealt with. That would be interesting, too! Thank you for reading, and also for reading and liking Lords of Gondor! I have been very much behind in keeping up with that one, but I'm hoping to get back on track again now. Lin

It is too bad that this was not the proper end to the tale even then; but now I see to what your current tale leads. Nicely done! Author Reply: Yes, this is the way I want it to end -- though I actually haven't decided yet if this is the way it is going. Some days it's hard enough keeping Boromir alive, let alone Denethor. ;-) We shall see what the muse has to say! Thank you for reading!

See what you have done? You've made me cry! I'm very fond of the poor Steward, and I'm happy that you found a way to save him - even if it required an alternate reality. Author Reply: Wow, I can't believe I didn't reply to your lovely review! Thank you so much for reading and letting me know how you were touched. I am very fond of alternate realities, where the characters I love most get to stay alive if that's the way I want it. ;-) I hope someday to write a longer tale of Denethor alive and how that affects things. Thank you for your encouragement!

There are so many 'beautiful' moments within this moment in time... I gasped when Denethor saw 'him.' I could hardly believe it myself and could understand poor Denethor's reluctance to believe in a figment of his imagination.... As for Boromir spending a moment with Pip - beautiful. And the guttering torch... And the trembling hand of the father on the son... Boromir's words - beautiful.... And Faramir - yes... even Faramir lives. Ah - though Denethor's response was not heartfelt - after the gut-wrenching scenese that the Palantir had shown him - still - for him to back down and accept Boromir's hand... Beautiful..... *heavy sigh* - if only................... Author Reply: Thanks so much, my friend! If only, indeed! I think that once Denethor wavered, he would have found it easier to turn back. He still had to face all that which had sent him to despair in the first place, but maybe knowing his sons were alive and there to help him would make the difference. I might have to write that sometime...

Oh, a wonderful AU moment, and one we could all wish for. Author Reply: Thank you! I've had it in mind for a long time that Boromir might have been able to provide the pivot to swing his father away from despair -- if he were just there in time. Too bad it can only happen in an alternate universe. ;-)

very good job! Now, you do plan on fleshing this out, right? :) Thanks for sharing it! Author Reply: Thanks! As for fleshing it out, I really think I will have to, lol! I just have to know how Boromir got there in time to save his father, and how Denethor coped with all that happens afterwards.

A very nice glimpse of a credible"What if" scenario. Author Reply: Thank you! I like "what if" kinds of tales, and I'm glad this one seems credible. I might have to write a longer version someday, to find out how Boromir got there in time, and what happens next. ;-)

"Chills", indeed. A very remarkable "might have been".And yes, I believe the grieving father would have responded just that quickly. and what a tale that would be, how did he get to come back? This could be just the beginning of a fascinating alternate universe tale! Author Reply: Thank you for reading! I, too, am fascinated by the possibilities of how Denethor might fit back into the scheme of things, as well as the whole issue of how did Boromir get there in time, anyway? I'll have to see about writing that one day...

Oooh, that gives me chills. What a wonderful scene, and I especially love the gentle acknowledgment of Pippin. Author Reply: It wouldn't be right for Boromir not to acknowledge Pippin! Thanks so much for reading!
