| This is lovely, the way you show the stages of Celebrian's life by means of the objects she cherishes. Of course Elves would eventually outlast all such mementos, however much they would take care of them. I wonder what she did take to Valinor with her? Author Reply: Sadly, I don't think Celebrķan really cared about what she took. Arwen packed things she hoped her mother would eventually come to remember. | |

| Things do change over the years, even for Elves, apparently; but none so great as the one that draws her west, away from Middle Earth, her family, her home, her loves--all of them tarnished by what was done to her. Love the symbolism of the chest. Author Reply: For Celebrķan the happy memories are still there, but they mean very little just now. The chest represents much of her life, and she will remember that in time. | |

| Oh my! A really bittersweet moment... Darn - I hate Elven stories... they always tear me up. The chest being filled piece by piece, age by age, memory by memory, was beautiful... especially the wee things...... *sobs* Author Reply: It all meant little to Celebrķan at the time - but Arwen filled the chest with the things she knew her mother would remember and love. | |
