Beautiful! Author Reply: Thank you. I wrote this many years ago, so it's nice to get another review for it after all this time.

I am just gobsmacked by this piece. You cut to the heart of the problem of elven immortality, and made it clear, through Arwen's perceptions that the Gift of Men truly is a gift. Well done! *applauds* Very well done!

Bravo! How deeply I relished this piece. I felt as if it was neither a word too long, nor too short! That is the greatest gift of a writer in my humble opinion. What a small triumph it is to use just exactly the right count of words, and to make the perfect number of guestures with them. I envy your empathy of Lady Arwen: and I am enriched to have read your piece, and will understand her better. Thank you very much. Author Reply: Thanks. I wasn't aware that the length was a major strength of the piece, but I had certainly said all I had to say on the matter. ;-) I'm glad you feel that this text has given you a new insight.

What an evocative and lovely examination of Arwen's choice! Author Reply: Thank you. I've always wondered how Elves coped with immortality. Somehow it's a less attractive prospect than one would think.

So very insightful. It really left me thinking about the nature of elves. I used to think they were wimps to retreat to the Undying Lands, but now I see that they were only trying to find a way to cope with immortality. Loved it. Author Reply: Thank you very much!

Beautiful. I really enjoyed the perspective and that at the end Arwen understood and embraced her fate. What a mercy to know an end. This sentence pretty much sums up what I always imagined about the disadvantages od immortality. willowswelt Author Reply: Thank you! When I thought about the real implications of immortality, somehow the Hindu/Buddhist idea of mercyful oblivion came to mind. While reincarnation is not quite the same as immortality, these concepts seemed related.
