Not Gonna Happens  by Larner 14 Review(s)

Oh, yes, I remember wanting a wand, after reading the HP books. Though fortunately, I was able to go to Amazon instead of stealing a hair from Galadriel. Enjoyed the idea of Frodo reading the HP books, though all of these HP/LOTR drabbles are making me want to find a crossover story...

Author Reply: Well, as I doubt that there are regular deliveries by UPS or FedEx to Tol Eressea, I suspect that Frodo would be forced to create his own wand instead. Heh! This one was just fun to write!

Unfortunately Nilmandra, who owns this site, does not wish long crossovers to be posted here, so you may well have to visit FanFiction.net to find a good HP/LOTR tale. I recommend "Not Quite a Maya" by Kara's Auntie! A delightful tale starring Neville Longbottom, Molly Weasley, and Augusta Longbottom!

And surely Galadriel's hair is more potent than some unicorn's!

Author Reply: Wouldn't it be? Heh! Or a hair from Gandalf's beard should do superb! Thanks so!

*can't...breathe...*

*islaughingtoomuch*

Now look what you've done, Larner!!! =P

*a highly amused Kaylee*

Author Reply: Two mostly blameless heroes--Frodo would undoubtedly enjoy reading Harry's exploits, don't you think? And he deserves some time just to play! Glad it gave you a good giggle.

“I think you might like these,” Gandalf said one day as he set seven books down on the bench beside Frodo.  “One of my friends brought them--he
thought you would like reading of the exploits of his protegee.”
Frodo reads Harry Potter? Hmmm, this could be interesting.

“Well, first, he decided to construct his own magic wand.  As there are no unicorns or phoenixes on the island, he decided the most likely material
to use would be a hair from the greatest individuals he knew.  Galadriel Artanis was most upset to be awakened from a nap when he plucked a hair from her
head.  Some of the Elves from the mallorn grove have complained about the branches he cut from one of their trees, yesterday he managed to get away with
a whisker from my beard, and now his friend Livwen’s mother is demanding the return of her broom!”
ROTFL! Oh, hilarious! Yes, two very different worlds collide and interesting things happen! Hahaha! Wonder what Bilbo's reaction to all this would have been? I love it!

Author Reply: I so enjoyed playing with this idea, which I indulged in one day after I reread "The Sorceror's Stone" in Spanish! Heh!

Thanks so, my Lady. Am so glad it gave you some laughs!

LOL! These stories are hilarious! I especially like the one with Lockheart, the Trotter/Strider argument, and the chili cook off. Quite a bit of fun, and good for laughs.

Author Reply: Oh, I'm so glad you like them. I'd just finished writing "Go Out in Joy" and needed a break from pathos, and had been listening to Jim Dale's reading of "The Chamber of Secrets" driving back and forth to work, so the idea of Lockheart hearing of an apparent opening for a "court magician" in King Elessar's court just seemed too good to pass up. That originally Tolkien intended for the Ringbearer to be led to Rivendell by a Hobbit Ranger has intrigued me since I read "The Return of the Shadow," and I found I finally had to have Strider and Trotter meet and compete for who would take on the Travellers. As for the chili cook-off--that just wrote itself one day when I was feeling silly.

Thanks so much for the feedback.

*giggles* Oh gosh, that is hilarious! I can imagine Frodo would like Harry Potter very much... :)
Lovely little bit.

Author Reply: Oh, yes, I think he'd have enjoyed the stories. I was sort of basing this on the behavior of my thirteen-year-old stepson on first reading LOTR--was off playing at Legolas before we first knew what had hit us! Heh!

That was really funny!

Actually, I'm just reading "Goblet of Fire", for the first time. So you can imagine that I still have to learn a lot about Harry Potter.

But just the image of Frodo stealing hair from Gandalf's beard for his "wand" is prizeless!

However, in my opinion Gandalf's staff will always be much more impressive than Harry's wand ;-)

Author Reply: I hope you're enjoying it. You now know what "Accio" does, I'd think; it's in book five that "Accio Brain!" happens.

And I certainly agree with you about the comparison of wands to Gandalf's staff!

Am so glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so for the feedback.

As much as I don't like the whole Harry Potter thing, this was great fun. Imagining Frodo pluck Galadriel's hair and stealing brooms is just hilarious. I wonder whom he intends to play Quiddich with, though...

Author Reply: Sorry you apparently didn't enjoy Harry as much as I did, although since "Prisoner of Azkaban" the movies have just skimmed the surface of the stories, sad to tell. But I found I liked the idea of Frodo playing at being Harry, who through most of it had a far easier time of it than Frodo did.

Am so glad you enjoyed this one. And who WOULD he play quidditch with? Heh!

*chuckles* I actually think that Dumbledore and Gandalf might cope with swapping places but I can't quite see it happening with Frodo/Harry or Sam/Ron And how about a Gollum/Snape swap?

Author Reply: I can easily see Dumbledore and Gandalf as best buds, and as you say, swapping places. But the idea of Gollum and Snape switching places I agree is hilariously ludicrous.

Glad it brought a chuckle or two your way.

*ROOOTFL!!!*
Larner, that is priceless! Frodo reading HP is a great idea, but to have him trying to make his own wand (where's Ollivander when you need him??) and broom ... *lol* *wipes eyes* And he even used hair from Galadriel and Gandalf for the wand? Oh well, our Frodo is an intelligent lad and knows the mightiest beings around. It's probably good he's limited to Tol Eressëa, or he'd try to get hairs from Ingwë, Olwë and Arafinwë :D

Thank you for this great way to start my week!

Author Reply: You are very welcome, and am glad it brightened things so for you! Thank you!
