| "You impertinent Baggins! Have you no respect for Meriadoc the Magnificent?" Frodo laughed and threw his arm round his cousin. "None whatsoever!" ROTFL!!! That's "Merry the Mag" as I like him :) (Red and pink? Really?) I loved how Persimmon came to wear Primula's emerald and I have to say young Merry-lad has taste! What a nice hobbit lass. Frodo was right, however! Better give good old Sam some time to recover before telling him more about the numerous (and prosperous) future realtions of his family. Author Reply: As Frodo probably helped to bath Merry and saw him as a baby he has known him too long to see him as 'Meriadoc the Magnificent. I thought the waistcoat probably had red and pink flowers or something similar. Sam is going to find it strange (and probably not proper) to see his family joined with Tooks and Brandybucks. | Loved Tolman and Merry – you’d expect the boy to get blinded by Merry’s taste in clothing, but deafened? *snicker* And it was so good to have Frodo join in the teasing! Oh my, Merry-lad has got it bad! So now their families know that’s something going on between him and Persimmon. Poor Sam. I think Frodo is right – the fact that one day the grandchildren of Samwise Gamgee will be Thain *and* Master (and probably Mayor as well) has to wait a bit longer. We don’t want Sam to have apoplexy, after all ;) Author Reply: Well it was rather loud so he could have been deafened! Cheeky young hobbit. Yes, in this universe the future Thain, Master and Mayor are all Sam's grandsons - and whu not? he is Lord Samwise after all. Sensible Frodo, holding his tongue. We don't want Sam to be too shocked. | |

| "One day one of your grandsons will be the Thain, my dearest Sam." Sam was so shocked by that information that the Thain had to supply him with a tankard of the Bouncing Bunny's finest. Frodo decided not to add that he was sure another grandson would be the Master of Buckland. One step at a time, he thought. One step at a time. Just delightful! Humble Sam deserves that and more. Thanks. Author Reply: I think a lot of the Shire gentry would have made links with the numerous children of Lord Samwise, and he certainly does deserve it. Glad you enjoyed the story. | |

| Oh this makes me grin! How wonderful to see another Took-Gamgee match. And I love Frodo's amused discretion at the end. I can just imagine his sly look... *happy sigh* I love Reunion-verse! Author Reply: You're right, Frodo would have 'that' look on his face - he doesn't want to shock Sam too much all at once. Delighted to know you enjoyed your visit to Reunion-verse! | |

| We Brandybucks can carry off these bright colours. We have style - unlike stick-in-the-mud Bagginses with everything tasteful and co-ordinated." "Yes, Merry, we believe you. I have never accused you of being tasteful and co-ordinated." Awww, these stories are so gentle and lovely. I do love one of the children being named after Drogo, and how the "great families" of the Shire continue to entrance one another. Author Reply: I'm sure there was a fair amount of intertwining of the various family trees, and Sam's family is somewhat large....... Glad you enjoyed, Shirebound. | |

| If before the quest the Bagginses were related to almost everyone by blood or marriage, it appears that after the quest the descendants of Sam would reach the same prominance! Heh! No, don't pile too much on our Sam too quickly, though. Love the reaction to the waistcoat. Author Reply: I'm sure Sam's family ended up being tied to many of the Shire's most prominent families, particularly when you consider how many there were! I think Frodo is wise to take things slowly and not give Sam too much information at once. My Merry is always being teased about his taste in waistcoats. | |
