I hope very much that real life has not becomme too overwhelming. I have been waiting so long for a update, or my fix as my kids call it. I am sending good thoughts and prayers your way, in hopes that all will be well soon, and your muse will return with many ideas and you might feel like taking pen to paper again soon. You have never not finished a story, and I am sure you will not leaving us hanging, I just hope all is well in the land of Le Rouret and family.

I loved this chapter! I think it was a much needed tension break, and Kaimelas was just the one to give it to us...along with a mountain full of dwarves. :) I am very very worried about Thranduil, and just how he got into this position (or whatever position that witch had him in! :[ ) I'm so glad Thorin is there to help Thranduil as Gimli is helping Legolas. I wonder why the dwarves aren't susceptible but the elves and men are. I'm very much looking forward to the next chapter and have informed RL it will have to wait next time. :) Excellent stuff!

It seems that a drunken dwarf makes for a mellow dwarf. At least, that appears to be the case for Dwalin, and I'm sure he's got company. Fabulous chapter from start to finish! The image of various cutlery and condiments being used to illustrate battle plans made me laugh. Only Kaimelas! Well, and Thorin, too, I guess. I'm really enjoying your characterization of him, by the way. He feels very much like his father. In particular, I'm thinking of the time when Dain was practical enough to tell Thrain that reclaiming Moria would be a stupid idea. Thorin seems to have inherited that same practicality, and he's using it well. I'm very interested to know what the group from Dale was after. I'm still undecided as to whether or not Girion has thrown his lot in with Malbeach. Thorin didn't give them much of a chance to explain themselves, and if they're not in league with Malbeach, they're certainly not going to want to make more enemies by coming between the dwarves and elves. Fascinating little political scenario you're weaving here! The rest of the chapter proceeded very LotR-esque, but which I mean to say that it was narrated in broad, sweeping strokes. We moved forward very quickly, and I think that's exactly what you want at this point. I can sense something building, and this faster narrative put an edge of tension on that feeling. Baranil's dark hints didn't help make the story any lighter, though I am relieved to see that many of the elves seem ready to welcome the dwarves. That makes me happy. But that last section... Wow! Now I really want to know what's happened to Thranduil. And what in the world could possess him to seek out a dwarf! Argh, it's not a true cliffhanger (nobody's dying and Thranduil has improved), but nevertheless, I desperately want to know what happens next.

Oh my word! It's worse than I could possibly have imagined! What *has* Malbeach (or his wife) done to Thranduil? But it's a very hopeful sign that he recognizes Thorin as a friend and ally. And what's up with Girion, and Girion's son? Girion's in "poor health"? Could he too, be ensorcelled? But I'm glad that Kaimelas brought the Dwarves through safely, and that they are acknowledged as allies and not foes!

I was right to be worry for Thranduil. Whatever spell is over him, it is very bad if his wife can't do anything for him. He remind me of Legolas when he couldn't sleep or eat, well he really seems worst, you description of him is scary. At least, he knows that he is not himself; I was thinking before this chapter that he wasn't even aware of what was happening to him. So, it seems that dwarves are immune to whatever black magic is in the air, Thorin effect in Thranduil was alike to Gimli's effect in Legolas during that dinner in Dale. I’m glad that the King has found help with Thorin, someone to break thru the fog. Now, as I said before, go to Dale and kill some people over there, it will be good if the Ithilien elf and men armies show up, that will be a great help. (Maybe will give Fastred an opportunity to reconcile with Tamir and I like Faramir and his friendship with legolas, so I would like to see him again) Waiting for next chapter, how are Durfinwen and the other ones? Kaimelas is not counting with them...I want to see Legolas and company in action. I did not comment previous chapter, but I love Kaimelas in his new role and it seems that he will keep it for a while, thanks to Thorin. As always, thanks for your story, love your writing, thanks too to your beta, she does a wonderful job, and keep posting. Fantasia

Oh, poor Thranduil! After the relative lightheartedness of the previous chapter it came as a real shock to see Thranduil in such a terrible state. I can't help feeling that it's of vital importance that Thorin's presence seems to have got through to Thranduil when no one else has been able to. But I haven't a clue why that should be. Best of luck for your child at the weekend!
