Delightful, Baggins Babe! Mr. Pootle is a very good garden fairy, because we all know the garden at Bag End was the best in Hobbiton :-) What a joy to read! Author Reply: Thank you Pearl. Yes, Mr Pootle must have been a very good fairy indeed. What an intriguing life he must lead! Glad you enjoyed it.

Lovely fairy tale, BB! And obviously one the Gamgee children could fit in their real life world easily. No wonder they adore the toad so much when they think it’s a disguised fairy! And a 'lad fairy', who would have thought *snicker* Poor Frodo has probably to make up a whole new book full of tales about the Bag End Mr Pootle now ;-) Author Reply: Thank you. I think the Gamgee children found a lot of magic in their everyday lives, one way or another. Mr Pootle doesn't realise how wpecial he is! There must be lad fairies, as Elanor says, otherwise where would baby fairies come from? I think Frodo must have had to write down at least a whole book of stories for those insatiably curious children.

( "There are lad fairies?" Fro and Rosie-lass demanded.. Ellie rolled her eyes and replied with all the superiority of an older sister. "Of course there are, otherwise there wouldn't be any new fairies!" ) I loved that bit. I also like the fact that the children's belief in the creature gave Sam pause when he looked into its eyes. A bit of magic is always nice. Author Reply: Ah yes, nothing like a bit of magic, and I think the Shire, and Bag End in particular, held magic in abundance. I am sure there must be some lad fairies somewhere..........

"There are lad fairies?" Fro and Rosie-lass demanded. Ellie rolled her eyes and replied with all the superiority of an older sister. "Of course there are, otherwise there wouldn't be any new fairies!" LOL!!! That reminds me of that funny conversation between Gimli and Eowyn in the movies about female dwarves. And I'm quite sure that Frodo enjoys the tradition he started as much as the children do :) Author Reply: Older sisters can be a bit bossy, I'm told. I'm sure Ellie is no different. I think Frodo really enjoys his life as uncle to the boisterous Gamgee children.

...and a beloved family tradition was born. :o) This is just so delightfully snuggy and fluffy. Perfect for a crisp October night. Thanks for sharing this w/us m'dear!! BTW...Sorry for appearing to not be around. To say it was a busy Summer is like saying Frodo's eyes are a nice blue. Gigantic understatement. Thankfully, it was busy due to nice things, but still busy. Drop me an e-mail and we can catch up. :o) Author Reply: Tigger! What a lovely surprise to see you back at last. I'm glad your absence was for pleasant reasons but we've missed you. When you didn't review the latest chapter of 'Centenary....' or any of the other stories I've posted this summer I started to worry! Glad you enjoyed the story of Mr Pootle - written as a sequel to the previous chapter, of coure! I sent an e-mail yesterday - hope it arrived.

And so family tales are born, as folk explain the toads in the garden! This is as wonderful as Pippin's tiny Hobbit house! Heh! Love it! Author Reply: After I'd written the story and was re-reading it, I thought of the little hobbit house! Perhaps Mr Pootle (and Mrs Pootle?) live in it............? Delighted that you enjoyed the story.

LOLOL! Frodo had no idea what he was starting! But I can imagine all the children deciding that the toad was "lad-fairy". *giggle* Author Reply: *giggles* No, I don't think Frodo had any idea what he was starting! Lad fairies and long and earnest discussions as to whether there is a Mrs Pootle. Another tradition has begun.

Oh, that was sweet! Just what do lad fairies wear? More please, Lynda Author Reply: What do lad fairies wear? Something like a teeny elf outfit perhaps........... I'm glad you enjoyed this - lots of other silly, funny, and (very occasionally)sad stories here! I hope you enjoy discovering them.

"Is there a Mrs Pootle?" Oh, this is such a delight! Bag End becomes more and more magical and full of wonder with each passing year. I absolutely love this. Author Reply: What a lovely review to find - I love entering this world and finding so much magic to be revealed. Glad you enjoyed.
