What a most delicious vignette, Lairė.(pun intended) I loved to learn that Bilbo knew how to limit himself to six meals a day. I'm sure that once in a while when faring in the wild Aragorn would have loved to share one of those six meals. And wise man that he is, he knows how to take good advice when he gets it. I'm sure both of them will enjoy themselves enormously at Aragorn's birthday feast. Author Reply: LOL, wonderful pun. And yes, the feast- well, the aftermath- will be covered a few chapters from now. They do enjoy it very much indeed.

Oh, I love this! It's marvelous to see a bit of Bilbo's friendship with "the Dunadan"! And such a hobbit conversation. Author Reply: Thank you kindly- I am very glad you enjoyed it!

tonight I shall enjoy myself. You should do the same, young man That's very wise of Bilbo. :) Author Reply: Bilbo is one of the "unknown wise", and should certainly be counted among them!

Ah! Well, a most happy birthday to that paragon of Men, Aragorn Estel Thorongil Strider.... (He needs to many names, designations, and titles to keep up with his virtues! Hee!) Lovely greeting between the two, and love the jibes about meals and food and feasting! Heh! Author Reply: Ah, thank you kindly! My teacher once said that the more names something has the more important it is. I like to think that applies to Aragorn.

Now there begs the question. How many other men did Bilbo know and how did he get to know them? You've made me feel hungry now. Author Reply: Ah, true! But I imagine that he passed through Bree on his way to Rivendell; and, of course, he saw many men in Esgaroth. The four hobbits in LOTR likely knew more after their adventures, but Bilbo knew more than most. Thanks for reviewing :)
