Sorry it's taken so long to get to this! A sweet tale and a sweet gift. Of course loved seeing Frodo, studying and smiling and telling tales and Sam was the loving big brother as always. Like the taste test. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thank you so much, Antane. Frodo was quite enjoying himself, getting to play "big cousin" to the Gamgee children. And Marigold is lucky to have a big brother like Sam to look after her. I wouldn't have minded participating in that taste test myself! ;)

RATS! SoA ate my review! Hamfast is so fortunate with his children, particularly as for him they all embody the love he had for their mother! The gift sounds marvelous, and love the way she decorated it, as well as Sam's white bunny! Love the inclusion of Nibbler as an inhabitant of No. 3, although being tortoiseshell you'll probably find Nibbler's a she, as tortoiseshell, calico, and mist coloring are all sex-linked color patterns, and occur in males only when the chromosones didn't split properly--such cats are genetic oddities and are usually naturally sterile. And I love the idea she crocheted mittens for Samwise. I've crocheted many a sweater and scarf, and lots of Christmas stockings; but I've never tried crocheting mittens as yet. Will have to try some! Author Reply: Hamfast has a wonderful family and he raised them well despite the loss of their mother. They do all in their own way remind him of Bell, and he cherishes each one, for all he might not show it most times. ;) Male tortoiseshells are rare, but that's very fitting for Nibbler. A rare and special kitten for a very special family. And at least he won't be out there making more kittens! ;) I've never crocheted anything, so you're both ahead of me there! Good luck with the mittens!

I LOVED it! It was perfect. I loved this line: (Part of behaving themselves was not acting daft towards their host.) And I loved how very shy Marigold was at the beginning and how she became more relaxed and braver as the day went on. Sam was, as ever, the patient, caring, older brother. Even at that young age, it is easy to see how he became such a help to Frodo on the Quest. Thank you for this. I really enjoyed it! I hope you keep writing the Gamgee Family for some time. You do it so very well. Author Reply: Oh goody! Marigold is so shy, but she does eventually get over it, given time. Sam is the embodiement of patience. If they had dictionaries back in those days, his picture would be next to that word. :D I'm sure there will be more visits to Number Three in the future. They are a fun family to write about. :)

What a wonderful addition to your tale! I loved every bit of this, and was happy to see Nibbler once again. It's so wonderful how everyone does their best, and the Gaffer (and Bell) truly appreciate the effort and love. Author Reply: Thank you, shirebound! Nibbler almost got cut as he was requiring quite a bit of attention and dragging out the beginning of the story. But once Sam fed him, he was more than happy to let me go back and trim down his part. :D The Gaffer and Bell created a loving and caring brood, of which they can be very proud.
