| Oh I can just see Legolas lying along that branch, with an evil grin on his face! I wonder how much longer he would have let them stew, he must have known that Faramir and the ladies were on their way! Speaking of cats, and the Cheshire cat came to mind, the girls are doing very well, still have to grow their tummy fur back, but are back to being their usual exasperting selves, no more growling and hissing on Mayhem's part! | I sympathise as I'm the sort who easily gets lost.I'm glad Legolas and Faramir found them and their wives are not too cross. Author Reply: I suspect that Diamond and Estella were secretly relieved not to hear murmured "That's the third time you've asked to see that one--can't you choose alreadys?" and so on. And it's fun to think of our small heroes taking such an out to avoid going shopping! Glad you enjoyed it! | |

| “This is at least the third time you have passed near me, and I am barely within the forest at all.” LOL!!! Legolas teasing Merry and Pippin, that's an event to remember :) I found it also very amusing that Merry knew exactly (and beforehand) what Estella would have to say to their little "walking trip". Author Reply: When I was given that line from the song sung in the Old Forest (one that made the trees upset) to work from, this was what came out. How does a Hobbit lost in an unfamiliar forest find his way out, do you think? Heh! And I do suspect Legolas would take pleasure now and then in baiting the Hobbits! Heh! Nor do I think that Merry, in several years of marriage, would question what she was likely to say to such a situation as this. They're not exactly newliweds now, after all. And he was just about right, don't you think? Heh! Anyway, thanks so for the comments, and I'm glad it made you chuckle! | |

| *lol* Our dear Hobbits might be warriors now, but they are certainly no Rangers, eh? Getting lost so easily, tsk, tsk. Love the way Legolas showed up and teased them, and how their wives reacted after showing up as well! That was fun! Author Reply: Oh, how true! No, these aren't Rangers, although they do know how to forage, of course! Heh! And who better to tease them than Legolas, and then their nearly fuming yet still laughing wives? | I love Legolas in this Larner. I think that he has been taking lessons from the Twins, or perhaps Glorfindel! Tell the truth it was all great! :) Author Reply: Am glad you do, Harrowcat. He knows these Hobbits so well, and it must have been fun watching them wander about lost for a time, knowing they'd done it to themselves. And it was fun to write something lighthearted this time. | |

| Well that was sneaky of them, you mean to tell me that Estella and Diamond couldn't have parked them at the nearest inn with a pint a piece and left them to it? Silly Hobbits! Like Legolas in this, he was his usual, helpfull self! More please, Lynda Author Reply: Oh, yes, silly Hobbits. My son and a friend once did the same to me when they were younger, leaving me searching for them and unable to meet the folk I was supposed to meet due to their decision they didn't want to go, too. They slipped back home after they thought I would have left without them.... And Legolas was amusing himself at their expense, of course! Why not? They'd brought it on themselves, after all.... | What a delightful story! Hobbits will be hobbits, no matter how young or old, single or married, in the Shire or in southern woods. I love how Pippin shared the plums and was still so eager to learn new songs, and how fondly Legolas and Faramir think of them. Author Reply: It was fun to try to find ways to work that line from the song sung in the Old Forest into a new tale. And, yes, Hobbits will indeed be Hobbits, no matter the place or circumstance! As for Legolas and Faramir, I suspect these guests to Ithilien are keeping them mightily amused. Heh! | |
